Okay so i'm actually at my internship right now, but i'm too excited to wait to tell you guys, so i'll take a few minutes to tell you the awesome news.
Alright so i was talking with my mentor for a while about Blastbeat (cuz i've been telling them about how we won and we're going to ireland!) and i was also telling him how busy these couple of weeks are going to be. i dont think you really care but i'm going to tell you anyway okay!
Well next week is my exhibition, and then after that we have this all-school camping trip that we're organizing. while at the same time continue to come to my internship. And then right after that i go to Sacramento to introduce a new legislature woo! and then right after that i go to USC/ Cal State Long Beach for the whole summer! And then i put my undivided emphasis to fundraising for Dublin (of course i'll still be involved while all this is going on but it's just going to be really difficult!). Yeah and since i kinda took the PR Manager position, i've been networking with a whole bunch of people who i think would be interested in donating and helping us out for Dublin.
Oh yeah, so anyways, he said he'd like to help and also added that he's going to talk to the PR manager of Morphosis (my internship) and he's sure that they'll be able to donate some money for us! yayyyyyyy!!!!
isn't that awesome?!? i'm so happy right now! =D=D
I'm have no idea how much they would be able to donate for us (i wasnt going to ask!) but anything at this point is helpful and greatly appreciated right??
We're one step closer you guys!
Oh and by the way, i'm also planning on writing a letter for Greendot (our school district). i mean, we're their school! they should support us right? and also i'm going to talk to one of the counselors at USC to see if THEY could also help us out some.
Wow, and plus with Robert's wife (Robert the founder of Blastbeat) supporting us with the housing at Ireland, we only need to fundraise for airplane tickets! and of course food. i mean, it's still a lot but wayy less. This is doable you guys! omg i feel so positive right now!

this is when i was presenting our lovely band... they did not win any place but...
they won themselfs a really big crowd and they also won vitory for getting the band there to finals so at the end they are all winners....
going into the big stuff now...
the moment was intense after the 3rd place winner won....
there we were...
sitting and hping we were 1st place winners so there were down to 2...

as they were announcing the 2nd place winner we were sitting and jumping and almost crying & hoping that our name was not called. As they announced BLACK DIAMOND records as the second winners we starteed crying and screaming since we new we were the 1st place winnners...
It was the most amazing thing ever.. i couldnt think of anything but the fact that we DID it we did it... we took it home and we brought it back home...
I was so proud of us.. i never thought that great things like this will be happening to us... i was so happy!!... No not even the word explains it

Its a really big privilage for us to have won this and prove people at our school that we can make it.... they thought that we could not make it there.. they did not believe on us.. we are now going to prove them wrong they are ging to be so jelous and woot woot we are going to rub it on their faces...

so anyways those who did not believe in us will now want to talk to us and congradulate us but guess wat!

so i am inspired by this to want to continue and i know that nothing can stop me... there will be many obstacles but i have to know how to overcome them...
for example being undocumented....i know that all this good stuff will pay off
i will never loose my hopes on going to DUBLIN IRELAND
there must be something that we can do and get me there

4 weeks agoYou guys!!! This was sooo amazing!
It's so heartbreaking that this is all over! Wait...no! it's not over! haha it feels good to say that! but it's not over, seriously! we WON! we won first place and there is NO way that only 4 of us are going to go! no way jose! We have to fundraise and make many many many more gigs, now that blastbeat has left us the skills needed to pull it through. We never did all this for the points, but becaues we actually wanted to change our community, which we did. and now, we're going to do it for each other. so we can ALL share the wonderful experience of going to dublin!
Hey, i heard something about Black Diamond planning to fundraise so they can all go to Dublin as well. if that's true, i think it would be an awesome idea to join forces and take all of us! i know it sounds impossible, but so did gigs with no drugs and violence...and that's what we did. i just wish A6 could also go with us for being so supportive and humble with us. i just wish we could just take everybody!
No but seriously A6 is amazing. They were awesome team players. Did you guys know that they offered to help us whenever we need to and stuff? they said that whatever we need, they're there and glad to help us out. I mean, COME ON! they sure did not say that to earn more points! the competition was all OVER but their support and veracity reamined. i admire their integrity and altruism.
Now, i'm not sure who exactly is going to read this since all of this is over, but i just wanted to share it and i couldnt keep it inside.
i have much more to say (big surprise) but i have to go to school now. On a sunday, eh i know.
So you guys will still be hearing from us so you can keep up to date with what we will be doing from now until december. Dubin here we come!
Hey Everyone (Natty)
1 month agoThought I'd Blog just one more time before its all over tomorrow. Well we are really nervous about the presentation, but we got the skills to pull it through! of course we do have to present hour exhibitions in school about what we have learned... and sometimes its just a piece of cake (well when you actually have something to say! which this Quarter i will be talking about Blast Beat!!!) I've talked about 50 mins non-stop... by myself. So eh, Its all going to be cool. We just need to relax and breath!!! We are all going to be fine.
I just have to say we are ready for anything tomorrow. We have worked really hard to be on top, hopefully we do, but if not... We still all learned something really valuable. Well at least I did! First of all, I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee working in groups. Well... Not always, it depends. I just like working with people who feel the same way about blast beat as I did. We all love it, believe me. And we were working our butts off to get this far! We are all so enthusiastic about winning, and we truly want this so bad! I know people think we are callow teenagers, but we can truly learn something from one another. We don't all obtain the same skills that the other do, thats why we learn! And believe me, if i one day want to work in a big company to advertise (I like Online promotions now! Yay! something i discovered!) I have to learn how to cooperate with people and blast beat is just a great way to start!
Second, I learned how it feels to be proud of something that we accomplished. Through High school we all have to do big rigorous projects. Mine have never in the world been like that. Im just kinda afraid to take what the world is offering.. And working with teens i KNOW and care about is a start. Im really happy that i joined blast beat! It was amazing and its going to be an unforgettable experience (going to be... because its not over just yet!) But im really glad we finished this and tried our best to make it to the end!

1 month agoOMG I just watched the trailer that Steph & Jesus made and it's cool and weird at the same time lol. Especially with Steph's voice. It sort of sounds like some kind of pre-made voice, but yea it was still cool.
Finally I watched the trailer after trying for about 38472404084020408045 times(exageration lol). The damn video kept freezing my computer so I had to restart the computer all over again.
Urban Revolt Records is going to the top....ALLL THE WAY TO THE TOP....ALL THE WAY TO IRELAND WOOT WOOT.......wE HAVE TO BE THE BEST NOT JUST FOR OURSELVES, BUT AS AS FOR OUR COMMUNITY. WE WILL REPRESENT THEM IN A POSTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

1 month agoWe finally did it! We got it over with--->Battle of the Bands. It was such a fun and exciting time! I had so much fun and felt like if I was really in URR not like the other times. There is so much to say and I dont know where to begin. We first, we (Me and Alicia) went to the warehouse pretty early to clean and set-up things. Nobody got there till 11 am. It was funny cuz we were all dressed chunti style and people were looking at us if we were homeless; it was funny. Then when most of the people got there we started to clean it was calm and normal. I was washing the bathrooms and then GUESS WHAT! I heard loud screams it was coming from the top floor! I was like what is happening, and then Natty, Alicia, Mimiand Judith said they saw a "ghost". They said they supposebly saw a ball bounce down the stairs.(hehehehe) and they when they went down they did not see the ball it was in one of the rooms. I was too scared to go up and see it myself, it was such a scary feeling. LOL. Dumb Noe was the one that was scaring the girls. Judith didnt believe that he was taking a dump the whole time. I saw him coming from where the ball was found. He was so mean too do that, they were paranoid the whole time they would go upstairs it was funny. I didnt want to tell them cuz it was funny! hehehe. And then later on I scared him, hehehe. It was so funny, when they went upstairs there face expressions said it all. It was so hilarious and when they told the other URR members they would think they were so dumb to believe that they really saw a ghost or something supernatural. I would just try no to laugh in that moment, it was hard!

So much things too do! Some people were panicking more than others and it was funny, but fortuantely they calmed down and did as best as they could.--> Me and Jesus were going up and down around the warehouse to find out who sign the papers at the start of the show. Then I had to do my duty! Attend the Judges and make them feel comfortable. which most of the time I was doing an "excellent" job. First time I saw the people enjoying themselves and not seeing all the mistakes we were doing. I was observing everything that I could see. I saw Mimi and Sergio going around with their cameras capturing everything and panicking because their camera were low in battery. Jesus and Esteph looking for the missing camera. hehehe. Alicia getting annoyed because people were asking her so many things. Diana panicking because Judith sister told her people were fighting, which they were only skanking. It was such a night. Everyone at least got mad stressed, or panicked just alittle or alot like some people. I felt glad that the people that came to see the bands were enjoying themselves. There were things that went wrong but we pull through and just went on and pursue what we were suppose to do to have a great Battle of the Bands. All the bands were good! I wished we could of taken all of them. It was sad when Tori announced the winner because that really meant that just one band will just go to the regionals. All the bands deserved to win because they really wanted it so bad and worked hard to perform to our Battle of the Bands. We had Ska, Rock and Rap. We had a Graffiti Battle and it was such a nice touch and it connected with out It was so nice to see what we were working so hard all these months.

Oh by the way i just got in a few weeks ago, but I saw everything that they were doing and just being there just for support. I know I havent been in the group for along time like most of you guys but I am proud of all of you people! I want to thank Marlem for doing so much for us. Hopefully we win because I feel so proud of what we did and I know everyone feels the same way, we came together and pulled out an excellent Battle of the Bands and we deserve it! We just could Pray!..hehehe!!

1 month agoWell i finally bloged which is a miricle im actually bloging in laura's class and its independent time so if she catches me im screwed I want to say that its been preety fun our ride is almost over and we all did a good job we all worked like crazy so im glad that we did because if we didnt we wouldent be in our proffesional level that we are in today. in saturday it was crazy because me and miriam were exchanging batteries and charging them almost evrey minute and evry time my battery died she took pictures and evry time her battery died i took pictures it was craaaaaaaazy!!!!!
and funny at the same time because she was paniking and running all over the place and i was too which is weired because im usually the calm one and shes the one that turns all crazy and when i say crazy i mean panicking maan laura caught me so i have to do my work so I finally bloged

1 month agoHello people, we just finished our Battle of the Bands which was a huge success. Although we faced many obstacles on this day we were still able to succeed despite those trials. Congratulations to Mente Corrupta you're going to the regionals on the 7th...so you better be prepared and win laugh out loud....but no I'm serious. I wish you guys the best of luck....and most importantly "GO URBAN REVOLT RECORDS WE ROCK" although other people might not think this...but we do of course. We are the best of the best and we are going to do an exceptional job at the regionals.
Now back to the Battle of the Bands. Well, the moning before the battle I wasn't feeling so good.....due to excessive allergies that just wouldn't go away. Before the battle I was contemplating on if I should go to my art class that morning then go help set-up and get the warehouse all ready for the battle or just miss the art class, stay at home for a while longer, then go to help set-up. Well, as for my deision I just said screw it, I'm just going to go to both. I didn't want to let either one of them down, so of course I didn't. Just the fact there was so much I had to do that day was so frustrating.
Oh my gosh, after my art class I walked all the way from exposition park to the warehouse because the stupid bus wasn't coimng and I didn't feel like waiting...lol. As I was walking it was so freaking hot and I was telling myself damnit, I should've brought my skateboard with me because I would've gotten there quicker. When I finally got to the warehouse 30 minutes later I helped clean up..then I finally forces Steph to go with me to go and get something to eat...Glad we did or else we would have starved that entire day lol......Since we had ballons we wanted to have them fall down on the winner of the battle of the bands..but as we were testing it out for about an hour it just wouldn't work. So with my brilliant unique ideas I decided that w should just put URR on the wall made out of balloons......but I wish they would've bought some different color balloons. Gosh, those ballon were all floral colors......like ewwww lol......They were fruity....but it still looked cool.
As we were putting up the balloons I was constantly attacked lmao...but not seriously. Attacked with the balloons. As we were putting them up some of them started popping out of no where........it was hilarious lol........The people who were at the warehouse early said that they warehouse was haunted...what loserz lol........but idk maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
Well, I will continue this blog when I get home because Laura has been telling us for lke the last hour that she wants to go home...so we're leaving from the school now.....pat 2 of this blog will be up pretty soon, so just wait for part 2......lol

CEO-Battle of the Bands
1 month agoWE have done it!
We already had our Battle of the Bands! It was this past Sat. Ma 31st! I am so happy and I am so proud of everyone! All URR members did such a great job! Though we did not have a DJ, everything else went great! Unfortunately, one of our bands backed out and were unable to participate, however, since we did not want to risk not having any bands, we had two other bands for back up. They worked out great. We had two places where the bands could participate in and it was just so great. Everyone that went had a great time; skanking, mosh-pitting and watching the graffiti art that alums of FTA came to create. We wanted to do something creative, and so we decided to have a Graffiti Battle, but since our artists did not want to battle one another, they worked on a bigger piece. They have not completed it, however, they will and so we will bring it in the school and have it there as a reminder of all the work we have done. We had all our six bands, we had the graffiti artist’s oing their thing, we had a banner that was made for us that says URR, and we had a great time. We had been preparing for so long and we were anticipating our Battle of the Bands.
We wanted all our bands to win, but they couldn't. All our bands were so great! Our winner was Mente Corrupta, but I'm the Bad Guy, Ekolekua, Street Chaos, BCF and Ratas Rabiosas gave great performances. Hopefully, they enter the competition once again because they were just so good. They have so much talent and one good thing that they got out of our event was that their fn base is growing.
I hope that this improves our chances to got o Dublin because we really would like to go. We have worked so hard and have done such great work! ALL URR MEMBERS HAVE DONE SUCH AN IMPRESSIVE JOB! THIS THREE MONTHS HAVE GONE BY SO FAST, AND I AM GOING TO MISS WORKING ON BLASTBEAT: URBAN REVOLT RECORDS! I HOPE THAT URR CONTINUES TO DO SUCH A GREAT JOB NEXT YEAR!
We took three months to pull this off, we made our Battle of the Bands the best we possibly could and I know everything will be fine. Though the end is coming I am so happy all of us had did experience because I know that everyone of us has grown so much.

Our Battle of the Bands if finally Over! (Natty)
1 month agoWell we finally did what we have been working so hard for. I really didn't know what to expect this saturday. You should have seen me minutes before it was 8pm. Whoa, i was going nuts and dying of nervousness. It was nerve wrecking just waiting for it all. But im glad it went well! Yay! All my obsessive promoting payed off. haha. Believe me i would like post 5 bulletins in myspace in the same minute... Wait an hour or so (or less...) and post more.
It was pretty awesome. I thought a lot of people helped us. My cousin John was actually the one that mentioned having a P.A. system... I was like a what? I've never done anything like this so you must imagine how confused I was after he told me. His response was "how can you guys not know what a P.A. system is... Your a 'record company'" He was kind of making fun of me. I looked it up online and its "Professional Audio" Just equipment to make the sound louder. Good thing he told me a few days before the concert because we really needed the P.A. the day of the concert. Yay!
Well anyway, there were a few things that went wrong.. Like 1. The FOOD never came. uhhhg, that sucks! i was really looking forward to the food! I was like starving!
And 2. The DJ backed out and never came!!
But putting that aside, we had a good show! the Warehouse was really big, and there was a lot of people who went to skank!
Im really happy with the choice of the winning band, Mente Corrupta, I think they played awesome that day!

So we did the car wash and the fun part was that we all worked together. Even those who are not part f blastbeat helped. Thank You very much.!

So another great thing that happened. We got a $200 check from this guy at USC. YeY!!
He donated a $200 check to our company which means that we have more money. Up to know the funraising is going on pretty well and i am so happy. THis saturday will be our great, big day!

We will win and that is final i will say. Our compny has been working so nice that i feel like i do not want this competition to end. I am going to miss those fustrating days, those happy days, and thosedays were we all had fun like a company....
By the way we have all 6 bands already confirmed yeey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, its cuz promoting just made my day! we officially started promoting like crazy today! and i just got really surprised that when i was posting bulletins on myspace through the urban revolt records page, many of the people were reposting our flyer!
Its a pretty awesome feeling to know people are supportive. We just got started, but by Friday every person in South Central will know about our Battle of the Bands! If it throw myspace or a flyer they WILL see around the neighborhood, Got a gig on friday? Oh believe me we will be there promoting! WE WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE! its gonna be rockin'!
We got some tricks up our sleeves! We sure have some creative people here in URR. Im so glad we have up to 600 friends in myspace. woo!!! Man this exiting! Cant wait till saturday!!!!!
You know whats kinda funny?
I have a family party the day of the battle of the bands... But im not going because blastbeat is more important. Yay! And my cousin who is also participating in the battle of the bands (Mente Corrupta) Isn't going either, i have more relatives going to the battle of the bands then to the party! haha, so funny. Makes me laugh! Our Battle Of the Bands will be a success! =)

We have been working so hard so that we could have the best BATTLE OF THE BANDS that there has been so far!
We have a few surprises up our sleeves...lol....
We have done so much to fundraise for our BATTLE OF THE BANDS.
We have had three minor events:
A Sat. Night where two ska bands performed in and we also had a DJ
A Fri. Night, it was DJ all night!
Another Sat. Night, we had a Ska Show.
We sold candy on the low at our school and on the streets, trade tech [during our night classes], and all over LA.
And we had a car wash today!
I have never been so tiered, but satisfied as the same time. This is so much hard work, but I am so happy to do it. Blastbeat has been such a great experience us! We have gone through so many road dumps and we have had so many complications, however, everything is going great. Our Battle of the Bands will be this Sat. at 25th & Hoover, so anyone interested in going, go to our blastspace page or myspace page to get more info. on it and on us as well.
There is so much going on so far. We have turned down about 5 bands [O.S.D., Lakra, and 2 bands that do not have high school students in them and one that was too late]. I felt bad for the bands. However, we are going to support them because we think they are great musicians and we know they can go so far with their talent. Through out this whole thing, we have learned so much and we have opened our minds and ears to so many things. We will be having three different genres at our Battle of the Bands, and I love them all. They are so different but at the same time so great. All the bands are so unique and have a great following. I am just sad at the fact that not all our bands will be able to win because they are so good. All our 6 bands are just so unbelieveably amazing!
However, since we are promoting them, and we ourselves are getting fans because of our motto "Makin' A Difference In Da' Hood". People are requesting us in myspace and they are so impressed by what we are doing [I hope the judges are too in the Regionals]. Blastbeat has opened so many doors for us, we have not only been communicating with Tori the Regional Manager, but we have talked to Don Weinstein, a CFO and he has given us ideas of how to promote and what we could maybe do.
We have done so much, and I know I am forgetting other things, like going to the other Battle of the Bands. It has been a "mission" like we say it here in South Central. We are willing to do anything and everything for blastbeat! We will bust a mission in the middle of the night if necessary!

anything for blastbeat i will like to call it...
1 month agoThere is a few days until the big battle of the bands for our compnay. Myself (judith) and my CEO (alicia) will basically do anything for blastbeat. On Friday we went to a battle of the bands all the way till Malibu and probably people thought that we could not make it since we did not have a ride or sonce we live really far away. After school when some of us said we were going to go Alicia, me Judith, and our new member Adriana (P.A)we found a way to get there. It was the most fun adventure that we had experience in the 3 months of being a company. Not having a ride to get to Malibu we managed to get there like nothing. From afterschool we were so busy looking for a person that will be wiling to take us all the way over there. Our nice advisor Douglas finally said yes after 1 hour of trying to convince him. Then there was another problem, coming back home. How will we come home? Then I said lets get someone else to pick us up. Another advisor, JOan, was nice enough to accept to go and pickus up. Then in no time we had a ride to get there and to come back home. How great! Another thing that we faced that night was that when JOan went to pick us up there was a few people left. Basically there was nooone there and two nice ladies were there with us and we risked going with them to meet our advisor to the CVS in malibu. The two ladies were nice and they offered to take us there and meet our advisor. It was such a scary fun adventure. When we arraived to L.A joan could not drop me off home so she droppped us off at Alicia's house. Me not knowing how to get home we decided something. Alicia has her licence and her siser has a car. Adriana sneaked into the house to get the keys of the car so alicia and her will drop me off home. The car was inside their parking. We were praying that we would not get caught and get it trouble. We had all this lies if we got caught. We gladly did not get caught. fiiiiiiiuuuuu it was amazing. so at the end of not knowing how to travel far from one another we found many things and we got home safely and healthy.=]
On saturday....:
there was another's MMCs battle of the bands. This one was more near. It was in hollywood. So we took the bus there and we came back home safe. It was a better day since teh battle of the bands was in the day and we were allowed to ride on busses at that time.
That day by the way we got 5 of our bands secured and 3 who we are not sure of. Basically we have the bands in contact and secured!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On monday by the way,
we are having a car wash on 56th and compton.
we will be washing cars to fundraise money for the battle of the bands still and that is going to be fun since teh whole company will be assisting and there are people who are already going to take their cars for sure......=]

well anyways...
the dj night was beter than the first concert
then the friday one was better than
the one on friday... even though it was a back to back
things were done ok.. as time goes by we learn new
things and how we can actually do better and what
we should or should not do.. i believe that the mini
concerts are a big help for the battle of the bands.
i am so happy that as a company i think that we are
doing a nice job... we definitivelu deserv to win like
wow!............. i am so excited the day is almost
here and time has come to an end we have to win
do not loose hope people we are now a few weeks

We are getting bands and I am so happy that both our events that we had this past week went great!

Well unfortunately we weren't able to get the rest of the bands. We are still working on it and no matter what we will do it. There have been bands that have come up and said they are interested in joining the competition. However, they do not have a high school student in their band so they cannot enter the competition.
I just like a second ago checked our myspace account to see whether bands have stopped by and said they are interested in joining and ONK is going to be in the competition. They were at our last gig that we had and La Infinita brought them. They were really good and I am so excited that they are going to JOIN! All our hard work is paying off as we speak. I am so excited!
So that means we have: ONK, Mente Corrupta, Alakran, BCF and I'm the Bad Guy. I just realized that we almost have all our bands; La Infinita is no longer part of the competition. It sucks that they are not in the competition but we are going to find another band and we will be ok!
I am so excited!
We are also working on our venue and it is almost assured! We have been working so hard and I cannot believe that everything is actually falling into place once again! We have two venues to count on and hopefully we will be able to get the one that we want [not to be picky]. I am so very excited!
One thing I am worried about is whether people would want to come since not many have come for the past show we put on. I am hoping that they do, especially with a week or two of advertisement! No matter what, we will pull through and we will be fine if we let our differences in the side and continue to win the competition!
We have had so many roadblocks, and now we are passing by them with so much determination and with pride!
We will succeed!

Dj Concert
1 month agoThe Dj concert is this Friday!!! We have come a long in a week; everything is ready the Dj, venue, etc. It looked bad but we're the best so i dont know why we even worried lol. This week is the week before our big concert and well lets just say we have some work to do. We can do it because we are he best and also have God behind us so some way we will come through. Oh and believe that at regionals we will most definitely come correct...we have some hot bands and groups so it wont be too hard to meet our competition. Well good luck to the concerts and all the bands we're going against.

I'm so furious bcuz i feel like i've left my group down bcuz i haven't finished the trailer and not bcuz i've been lazy but bcuz unfortunately We {Jesus and I} keep encountering technological difficulties we haven't finished the trailer. Oh and to make matters worst we URR tied up with Black Diamonds once again and I know for a fact that if we would've finished the trailer we could've gotten first place but NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!...

(Director) and well i'm bloggin bcuz natty just reminded me and well sorry natty for not bloggin earlier and sorry to all of u ppl that haven't heard from me but I'll inform u guys of wat has been going on so far. Well this blog is to mainly tell u pplz that the blog above this one is a blog that i should've posted a long time ago and wen i say a long time ago, i mean a long time ago!!! Yes its a blog from 4.20 of this year. Well yeah its a blog that talks about the gig i went to with two other company members and well it was written in present tense bcuz i wrote it that same night i came back home but just forgot to post it up. 1 month agoHello, pplz...........hmmmmmm.....wat should I blog about.......welll i sort of don't know.....ok I know now..........well 4 the last 2 weeks we havce been selling candy secretly at school (shhhh.....lol)We'll anyway we made i guess sort of alot of money but idk the exact amount.......It was rally funny because ppl would bambarde judith at nutrition and Lunch to buy candy and mimi kind of forced ppl to buy red vines from her at the parent meeting......oh and we're gonna 2 mini concerts next week on friday and saturday I believe.It's gonna be a DJ concert and a SKA concert so ppl come and support us.

2 months agoIt is about to be 10pm. The DJ Night show that we will be hosting has gone horribly wrong. The venue we had has cancelled on us, the Dj has also cancelled on us and everything is up in the air as of right now. I am extremly stressed out at the fact that we do not have anything confirmed for May 9th. We were actually on our way, we just needed to promote our event but now we do not have anything to promote. We have only 3 to 4 days to put it together once again. This week will be the toughest of them all because we have nothing to go with by.
However, the Ska Show planning is going great. The only thing we need to cofnirm are the bands. We just need them to come in and sign contracts and we will be fine. We also need to promote.
Bad news again is that we do not have a location for our Battle of the Bands. We still haven't been able to get the location confirmed because the owner has doubts and so we still are working on that. We need so much money for the Battle of the Bands, that is why we are trying to put the DJ Night thing together and the Ska Show. We want people to come out and support us because we need it!
However, right now I need locations!
If anyone can think up of anyone that may be willing to lend us their backyard/warehouse please tell us as soon as possible! We need all the help we can possibly get right now!
CEO-What is going on so far in URR??!
2 months agoThere is so much going on right now. ME, Judith and Marlem went to Washignton Mutual to open an account for the company, but there was so many things that we would have to do, and we did not understand much so we decided to get a simple account that would be under Marlem's name.
We are planning to do two more mini concerts that would be targeting two different types of people. This is our way of fundraising. Our last mini concert was successful, though it had flaws, we are going to use all that we did wrong and learn from them. We have half each mini concert planned out. I personally think we can do much better. By the end of this week we are seriously going to start the advertising for both shows. One of them we are going to have a DJ and the other one is going to be a Ska Show. We have so much to do rite now but I know that we are going to be fine. Urban Revolt Records has so many smart people that are capable of doing so many great things. Though right now we are only half way with both shows, by the end of the week I know we are going to be in a good place.
However, there were also problems that came up between me and Sedrick, the COO. He felt as though he was not much of the process and I had to take fault for that because I was really not incorporating him as much as I should be doing. We talked about it and we decided to talk about everything every Tuesday and Thursday because that is when we have a chance to work on Blastbeat. We are going to go to Amoeba to check it out and we are going to be giving out flyers and promoting our event as well. We are going to start working together and communicating so that we make the last month, the best month of the competition!

2 months agoFor a second I started freaking out because i didn't see the long list of blogs you usually see when you come to our page. I was like omg! dont tell me they erased them! but nope, there just hidden.
Anyway, People need to get blogging. A lot of people find themselves not knowing what to blog about. It cant possibly be that hard can it? I find it pretty easy! But changing the topic. These past few weeks we have been trying to figure out ways to get more money. Cuz we sure do need it for our battle of the bands. We got 2 more fundraising events coming up really soon in May. Hopefully that goes really well and we get the money we need. We also got some new tricks up our sleeves to many money. It all comes from the brilliant minds of Judith and Diana, they are good at this i have to admit, And are really committed!
I just hope im doing my job well too! I have been trying to add people in our myspace page, which is:

if you guys what to check it out. I think its really coming to our advantage. We know EVERYONE in los Angeles has a myspace, specially our target! Im adding a bunch of people when ever i have the time. Currently we have 306 friend like right in this very moment. But I guarantee you tomorrow it will be higher! cuz i have requested 175 more people to be my friend. There all from LA so thats even better! We have direct contact with them, and many of them seem really interested in what we are doing. Hopefully we can get them to come to our shows! Thats also what I have to do!
Imagine posting a flier inviting them to our show to EVERY SINGLE one of our "friends" myspaces! man thats going to take some time!! but I can get it done. Its my job, the internet is what im best at! woo!
Imma try to push people (literally [haha j/k]) to blog these few days because if you havent noticed they havent!!! Oh no! And they have a lot to say! Or ill make them. lol joking.

I will just like to say that wow!!
The mini concert was fun....
Everything went really good no fights, no drama, no nothing. It was a safe concert it was amazing how everything went. We all had fun I hope...im impress with all of us. We all worked together as a company that we are and there was even people from school that were helping us like Ruben, Luis, Juan (his friends.. etc... we were soo united and things went pretty well... i try socializing with everyone so they will feel that confort and well everyone was happy we went skankin for abit and had fun... Well that is it for right now i just thought that i will come by and tell everyone thank you for helping and to our company thank you as well for helpin josh, diana, and myself realize this little concert...
now we need to figure out another way to fundraise money and keep it going to get far!!!

Hey you guys I am so exited to see how this is going to work out tomorrow .We have done a great job posting flyers, selling tickets and organizing anything needed for tomorrow's show. I hope that a lot of people attend to it and I hope to see all of you guys there. 2 months agoBlast Meet (March 11, 2008)
Lack of energy definitely characterized this meeting as everybody hesitated or simply avoided to utter a word when appropriate. Josh and Diana’s late arrival ephemerally provided comical relief before silence was again restored to its original state. The first topic for discussion was auditions. The bands are crucial in our progress so we identified this as a major priority. The first subheading in this discussion was the location. We figured that a great place to hold the auditions is in Jessica’s room (seeing as how it has the massive door) but that’s when the next issue came about. In order to use Jessica’s room, we needed one of the staff members to open the building and Marlem was out of the question. To get around this issue, it was only right to send our personal relations person, Jessica, to go speak to our top candidates, Steve and Yadira.
The lack of energy was quite persistent. It was almost beginning to feel tense in the room until somebody came to the rescue when their threshold having been exceeded. Marlem couldn't help but congratulate all the people that worked hard in producing the business plan. I gotta say, it was inspiring to see others (whose task was not to work on the business plan) show tremendous dedication and unity in completing the plan.

Today I called John Vallejo, a member of two bands. We have an audition on Sunday for one of the bands he is in called Mente Corrupta. We will schedule the second band another day. I also have some other bands that am trying to get their contacts. So far so good.
The mini Concert seems to be a go but we need to sale tickets. I myself have only sold 3. But we can do it. Alot of students just go ask for money and buy tickets from us. I will help keep the mini concert run smoothly.
Cant wait till Saturday.

This is getting really annoying it gets on my nerves, i am adding people and apparently no one wants to be our friend, i see we have some haters in the hood.. or they just think that we might intimidate them, they could choose..i dont blame them. lol..
The past Friday we had just met with the group Judith and Diana gave us the ticket and they are really weird looking.. and they are getting really annoying because i can not sell the damn tickets.. i think i am just going to buy them all..

2 months agoWell lets see what's going on with Urban Revolt Records now. Last Saturday we had BCF come to audition for us. They had problems getting there but when they did it was amazing!!! They freestyled for like 20 minutes and with me beating on the table (which started to hurt after 5 minutes). They focused alot on metaphors but it was real fun. I interviewed them too and found out some really interesting stuff (video coming soon). Now our main focus is the mini concert on April 19th (this Saturday). We will have drinks, food, music by a DJ and La Infinita Protesta (one of our bands). Tickets are $5 a person and we will have strict security. It starts at 7pm and ends at 12am. 2 More Bands???
2 months agoUmmm....... Well i haven't had a chance to talk to the A&R person but hey I'll tell all you guys first. Of course it aint no confirmed thing but hey they might be!
Well, yesterday I was talking to my cousin and I told him about what we were doing and working and he said he would like to be in our Battle of the bands! He is in to bands to thats better. He ain't in high School anymore, he just graduated last year but there are still other people in the band which are... So thats Great news!
One of the bands is Ska, he says there really good. They have played a lot of shows, in partys and even quinceaneras. I was like damn. Thats tight! They have even played in The Battle of the Bands before and Won! I was like cool, you guys must be good (yes my cousin is in the band... and I've never heard them play!) Oh and they have 12 original songs!
The other is a metal band. There sound kinda scary to tell you the truth... lol, but there really good. I like they way they sound. They also have played in many shows and stuff.
And anyway, I just got really exited b/c my cousin told me to give our A&R manager his number so they can work something out. YAY!

2 months agoOMG...I was just typing this blog like 30 seconds ago,then all of sudden the window that I was typing it in, just closes. Well, oh well, I'll just start all over again.
Okay, yay I finally got another specific task assigned yesterday and it will be completed tomorrow. I was just waiting and waiting and then finally it came. I was going to complete this task today, but with 5 1/2 hours of SAT prep it was really draining. Like OMG listening to Steve's voice is so BORING!!!!!!! Well, yes being a part of blastbeat is so awesome...but this week has been sort of hectic....So much work to complete in so little time (not just blastbeat but school in general). I'm still striving to succeed and not give up.
YES, SAT prep, balstbeat, trade tech, film exhibition, school exhibitions coming up, all work due on the 16th. Like OMG, we're all stressed, well at least I am. Well,knowing that we're in 1st place tied with Saint Monica's ( which will be going down of course)..... we're gonna win this shiz nit lol.....no questions asked. We're gonna stay in 1st place and nothing less. Well, we just have to continue working hard and never give up. Yes, yes, we have so much work to do and we won't let anything get in our way. NOTHING CAN STOP US NOW....!!!!!!!
I'm so proud of everyone in Urban Revolt Records.... we've been working really hard. Even though a few people had to be let go.....we're still able to get our work done...no matter what......i just want to wish everyone good luck ...and yes we are so close to getting all of our bands....Judith Sedrick and Sergio I belive saw another band audition today and the COO said that they were good I just hoped they filmed it bcuz I wanna see lol. Well, ummmm....we have a variety of types of bands and they're all good.....
Now we're working towards selling all of the tickets for our mini concert.....which will be Saturday April 19, 2008. I belive all the details about the mini concert are in Diana's Blog (our finance manager....

well today as some of us may know that there was the audition for BCF...they are pretty nice!!
They even made a rap about URBAN REVOLT RECORDS!!
it was so fun and they seem to be really enthusiastic about this competition...they even said that they were going to work extra harder is in that amazing!?.... well any who...that means that we have 1 more band less to find and as time goes by it gets more exciting... so anyways up to know the company has been working really hard... everyone seems to be doing their job and wow!! we are working together... I LOVE IT!...
another thing this saturday there is a mini concert!! yeah!! where one of our bands will be performing and this money will be used to fundraise money for the bigger event!.... Diana, Josh, and myself are working as hard as we can so we can make this great mini concer rock!..of course all of our team and company are helping out to sell the tickets and that is the fun part...workig like a real team.. i feel so excited i even want to cry now.... buuuuhuu!!
but lets step it up people... we need alot more done... we have to really win and show our best!

2 months agoOh my FREAKING god! These past couple of weeks have been such a hustle! oh trust me, there is no hurdle in this earth that can possibly get in my way...that hasn't done so already! You dont know how difficult it's getting right now...yeah i was being a little exaggerated with the hurdle thing but it IS getting really hard okay! Especially because i dont have internet at home anymore so i've been a little behind on the blogging as you can tell. Oh and let me tell you about my camera!
