Cancelled gigs
4 weeks agoWe've had to pull out last minute from the Beerfest in Myrtleville tomorrow, and form our good buddy Colin's birthday next week as our bassist Frank has fractured his wrist! We hate to do this, especially so late, but we have no choice in the matter unfortunately. so with the exception of the Transmission battle of the bands semi-final, and hopefully final!, it looks unlikely that we will be playing any gigs until September 27th in the Whiskey with mikegotspiked. If anyone wants a cd in that time please just leave us a comment and we'll do our best to accomadate you! Thanks.

Free Gig and Big Gig!
1 month agoHi chaps.
We've been practicing and writing for the last two weeks and hence no gigs, and it's almost been a month since our last Cork shows, so we're having 2 gigs at the end of July for anyone who's interested. Here's some info on them. BAM!
July 24th
Ok, this is an odd one. During the day, we're playing a set on Patrick Street for The Samaritans Charity. I have no idea exactly where and when but if you are doing a spot of shopping and want to join the knackers at laughing at us then this is where we'll be!
But that's not all! THEN, after that, we're playing an evening all-ages show inside The Pavilion on Carey's Lane. This venue is incredibly sweet, and the best thing of all, tickets are free!!! So if any of ye want some just post us an ol' comment. Also playing are PushPlay and Suede Halo so it should be a very enjoyable gig altogether.
July 26th
We're playing a headline show for the LA or Busk battle of the bands. We'll be the band playing when all the judges are making their decision. It's in the Savoy, doors are at 8:30 SHARP, and it's €7 in, or €6 for an advance ticket, which we have on us or which you can buy off ticketmaster.ie, so if you want a ticket for this, once again let us know. It's worth the bobs too, cuz 6 sweet bands are playing (Setmaker,Machismo,Yesterdays Heroes,When Good Pets Go Bad,KingSear and The Havana Affair).
These will most likely be our last Cork shows for a while, because we're focusing on writing and getting a tighter show together, as we're a bit shite at the moment to be honest. Thanks for reading!

EP Launch and the like
Hey guys, so this long long weekend is over at last! First off, thanks to those who came to see us and said nice things in Sally Longs in Galway. It was our first time there, what a lovely place. We felt very welcome.
For the Cork crowd that came to our over 18s and all ages launch, we just want to say thanks so much for everything. We never thought we'd get a crowd of that size in, particularly the over 18s gig, which was an amazing night for us. Sure there's not much to say really except thanks to everyone who came in, who bought a CD or a t-shirt, and who had a chat with us afterwards. We really appreciate it, you've no idea! Cheers to The Savoy and Martin for treating us brilliantly over the weekend. Cheers to Burn Us Both, Altruism, Cars In Walls, Elk, KVX, Suede Halo, Push Play, and Dirty Fix for playing their tunes with us. What a feckin' laugh and a half. Here, ye're all maddie off your actual faces.
We're not playing Cork until the 24th July, when we're playing Patricks Street and The Pavilion, and then we're playing the savoy again on the 26th July. If anyone's gonna be around the country at any stage, check our dates, we might be playing near you!
So thanks loads and loads, and the last thanks to Livewire, who, although quite ugly, have been too good to us as promoters and as friends the whole way through. Sure ye know yourselves like. Top notch.
Our EP is on sale in Plugd Records, Washington Street.
Unreal beys,

3 months agoIt's been a while since we've posted anything! We have the ep recorded and mastered, and Pistols At Dawn Sir is up online so you can hear the results! We're all delighted wit how it came out, Ross down at Data Recording Studios really knows his stuff! Check them out if you're looking to record, in our friends list (cheap plug!)! so we're gettin that duplicated and we're planning to release the ep around the end of June, with help from our buddies at Livewire! Again, see our top friends! Due to exams, not much else has happened, a gig in Fredz with the UCC Capriccio Society and one in the Quad with the ever handsome Sideproject! Both gigs were great craic, cheers to everyone and anyone involved!
Congrats to Overplay for winning the vote and getting through to the blastbeat finals! Thanks to everyone tha voted aswell!
Besides the ep launch, we've nothing else confirmed for the summer, besides a festival up the country, organised by Plectrum (again, top friends for a link and more info!) and Party In The Pines! The festival should be a laugh, and is for a good cause, so check it out! Party In The Pines, again by Livewire, is shaping up to be as much fun as it was last year, with a savage line-up and cans on the beach after! and only a tenner for a return bus down, bargin. We're also hoping to get a few gigs around the country over the summer break, so hopefully that'll come together nicely!
One final note about the ep launch: we're having both an all-age and an over-age launch on the same weekend, so noone gets excluded! It'll all be on in the Savoy, and should be monster craic. Check back here for more info as we get closer to it!
Best of luck to everyone sitting exams, both LC and college!

Celebrating Christmas, Coolaboola style
8 months agoCoolaboola Events are back with their annual Coolaboola Christmas all age's gig featuring:
Fight Like Apes
The Avalanche Effect
Fade To Flame
Cyprus Avenue | December 27th | 2pm (all ages!)
Tickets €8 / €7 with a flier.
This year's gig is going to be jam packed with festive activity (rumour has it that Santa is actually visiting...the real one!).
We'll also be raffling off a big Coolaboola Christmas Hamper full of CD's and merchandise of bands who have played the gigs over the years, as well as lots of other lovely goodies. This is in order to raise money to do a really big gig next year to celebrate 3 years of Coolaboola Events - so please, please support us! :D
Remember, Christmas isn't over until Coolaboola Christmas is over!
Fight Like Apes
They've taken the Irish music scene by storm since the success of their debut E.P. "How Am I Supposed To Kill You If You Have All The Guns?" - and rightly so! Fight Like Apes are a breath of fresh air.
Back from their ArtRocker tour of the UK, with two Meteor Award nominations tucked neatly under their toilet paper headbands, Fight Like Apes will entertain the young indie-viduals of Cork with cracking hits from their highly acclaimed debut EP and it's successor "David Carradine Is A Bounty Hunter Whos Robotic Arm Hates Your Crotch".
Expect all sorts of craziness involving a mish-mash of synths, megaphones and pots and pans.

The Avalanche Effect
In the short time they have been together, The Avalanche Effect (or TAE as they have become affectionately known) have gathered a loyal fanbase. They've just played their first headling gig at Cyprus Avenue and we suspect that it's the first of many. These guys are one to watch!
