Love Pop Suicide band is four guys playing rock music. It began in NUI Maynooth in 2002 when lead singer Colin Foy looked to start a rock band in college with friends and came across then drummer Colm Collins. Having messed around for about a year practicing and getting to know each other, the original band fell apart. However, at the end of 2003 Colm began to play guitar and the pair started to write some material that would eventually make it to Love Pop Suicide. By the Summer of 2004, Colin & Colm started up their new band "Fat Camp" of which they had relative success gigging in Maynooth, Longford & Dublin. However, by the end of 2005, Fat Camp had to call it quits due to college commitments, but Colin & Colm wanted to continue with the material they had written for the band and find new members to help them progress further. Enter Love Pop Suicide! After a long search for a new back-line of a bassist and a drummer, in January 2006, bassist Antoine Desnault and drummer Bryan Walsh joined Colin and Colm and began practicing in the grungey surroundings of Apple Rock studios. Antoine Desnault was over from France studying in DCU and wanted to join a rock band, and after a long time of online contact, he came along to a Love Pop Suicide practice and proved his worth more than effectively. Bryan Walsh (who has previously played and toured with guitar-guru Alan Lennon) was also found online on DCU forums, and as someone who is committed to rocking like a hurricane behind the kit, it wasnt long before the four boys started playing some good music and putting together a set. Love Pop Suicide pride themselves on playing high-energy, hard-rocking music that entertains all those that come to witness it. Their glam/grunge/rock stylings are a throwback to the early 90's Stone Temple Pilots/Pearl Jam grunge movement couple with the modern sense of songwriting craft shown by the likes of Foo Fighters/Incubus and the pizazz of Queen/Scissor Sisters. The songs are relatively simple, but with great depth and subtlety in their craft. Ultimately, we aim to entertain and enjoy what we play.
