New EP "Do You Realise" released this Friday 9th November, featuring the single Do You Realise and including three new tracks, all wrapped up in a sexy little limited edition package. Available in all good record stores, y'know.

We've set up a new mini-site for the ep, with lots of cool pics, info, tabs, etc, and we've also just finished shooting a video for the single which will be posted up on the site soon. Simply go to: http://www.delorentos.net/realise

The band will do two free mini instore gigs to launch the EP... in HMV Shop Street, Galway at 5pm on Friday 9th and the following day will be in BPM Records, Waterford City at 3pm, off the square.

Tickets are on sale for our final show of the year in Dublin's Ambassador Theatre on Friday December 14th, get yours now from ticketmaster: http://www.ticketmaster.ie/event/18 0...

This is our biggest headline show to date and just in time as we will be one of the last acts to play the theatre before it closes as a live music venue in January. We're very happy to announce that Messiah J & the Expert and Super Extra Bonus Party will also perform on the night, making it proper eclectic, yo.

We've started work on the next record. Initial sounds are good, that's all i can say

And finally, we'll be doing our first tour of the UK this month. Taking in England, Scotland and Wales, with nine shows, starting in London on the 20th and finishing in Derby on the 29th. see our gig listings for details. If you're on the island of Britain, hopefully we'll see you on that, its going to be great.

Oxegen, Blast, and Metatarsals...

Hello!

Plenty of drama since the last time we posted up a blog... Unfortunately the bad news is that Ross suffered a serious foot injury a couple weeks ago from the amount of gigs we did, something to do with his metatasal. Which is a foot bone. or something. Hopefully he'll be back soon.. -Thankfully our friend Gareth has been able to fill in for him on live duties, thanks Gareth! (www.myspace.com/garethaverill) He's also very handsome.

We're releasing a new single "Stop" which is coming out July 20th -it'll have 3 tracks:

1.Stop

2.She's so Modern

3.Jape Remix

(If the cover looks strange, its a mild optical illusion). You can check out a preview of the remix (our first!) on our myspace page, and please check out Richie's myspace page : http://www.myspace.com/richiejape You can also see a high-quality preview of "She's so modern" on youtube, from our gig in Thomastown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXz _RHrDMPU). Oh yes.

to everyone who came to see us at the two Arctic Monkeys gigs at Malahide Castle...
Thanks! It was great. We were the first band to ever play there! It was great meeting Supergrass, The Coral and the lads from the Arctic Monkeys, we'd a stunning weekend. Also, sorry to the Monkeys for warping their football. Kieran and Myself were also were lucky enough to meet the director of The Arctic Monkey's video for Fluorescent Adolescent, Richard Ayoade, we're fans of his work. If you get a chance check him out in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA3S DHWkUsc (Warning: you may completely love this)

Thanks to everyone that came to the Blast all ages gig in Dublin's Radio City last Saturday, it was one of the most mental experiences we have ever had at a gig! There was a full scale stage invasion and crowd surfing... You can see a clip of the gig here (courtesy of phutloose) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_pf swxZEK8 . The youth of today, wha?

Finally, we're playing Oxegen, on the Pet Sounds Stage, Saturday at 4pm, we're really looking forward to it, see you down there, it's going to be great!

If you know anything about Metatasals, or simply want to wish Ross well, please drop a note... :)

Seeya the next time,

Níal
and Ross and Kieran and Ro.

Tour diary..

We're back after our cool two week tour with Bell x1, and back into the delicate work of the studio and finishing songs. We'll be writing for the next week and getting the final part of recording done between now and Christmas.. but for now here's the collated tour diary originally posted up at http://delorentos.proboards43.com on our messageboard...

Wednesday: Belfast, Mandela Hall.

So.. Day 1 of the tour. Bit tired and feeling a bit under-practiced due to doing the album and trying to get the new songs shipshape, we arrived up in Belfast to the Mandela Hall. After I discovered the gambling machines and quickly lost all my sterling, we soundchecked with a new version of "Stop", "punx" and a slightly tinkered-with version of "The Rules".
At around 9 we played to a big crowd (thanks Belfastians!), and even though we made a few mistakes and we didn't get our sound great, we enjoyed it and hopefully some folks did too.

afterwards, i had some more gambling fun while the lads drank our generous rider with the help of the attractive members of the Fast Emperors... and then we left, got a kebab and we all jumped in a big hotel-bed, partridge family style. Except with more fags and stella.
(interesting bell x1 fact: they have loads of different cheeses on their rider. mmnnn..)

hopefully we'll keep some sort of diary going, but we can't promise anything

K

Thursday: Nerve Centre, Derry.

day 2. Bleurgh... Shouldn't have had that kebab. We arrive at the Nerve Centre, Derry, and after lots of Berocca and water and a good souncheck we wandered around. Had a fairly manky dinner in a superpub place, had a few goes on the gambling machine (note to self: seek help) and sat there smoking cigarettes INDOORS! The novelty! I had a chip, then a drag of a cigarette, then another chip. It wasn't very nice, but it tasted like freedom. smokey freedom. (when we got back the Bell x1 lads told us there was a fantastic place next door.... ah well.)
At the gig we played a new song - "Punx" - for the first time and it was pretty good, and afterwards we sat around with Simple Kid and gave each other nicknames...
(interesting Bell X1 fact: Before every gig they perform the rap from "Gansters Paradise" backstage, with each member taking a verse)*

K

*this isn't true. thats us.

Friday: Royal Theatre, Castlebar.

Day 3: SO we woke up in our lovely hotel, almost half of us had showers, and we jumped on the bumpy road to Castlebar - stopping over only for soggy sandwiches and Yop in Donegal. We got to the massive venue in Castlebar just in time for our soundcheck, did that, had a few minutes to write a setlist [Until the next time, Punx, Leave it on, Basis, Stop, Do you realise, Waiting and Idle conversation] and then we played just after the venue opened up. Kinda weird playing to a huge venue with a handful of people in it, but i guess the castlebar faithful aren't an early gig crowd... Nevertheless, we coaxed some nice folks up the front, played as best we could and some folks liked it and came up afterwards and said hello. The venue itself is fantastic, and the Bell x1 boyos put on a great show.
Afterwards we had lots of heineken, and cut a rug on the dancefloor. At about 4 in the morning we had chicken burgers in the rain and hoped people would be early risers for the next ones, especially considering Belfast and Derry were so good... early start tomorrow for waterford....

(interesting bell x1 fact: Brian makes a tasty crisp and ham sanger.)

K

Saturday: The Forum, Waterford

Ok, Ro here to tell y'all about day 4 of bell x 1 tour, the day of the 6 hour drive!!!! wooooh! (ghost noise)

actually, the only scary thing was the amount of snax, chickatees and monster munch consumed on the way from mayo to waterford

thanks to those waterfordians who came up front and partied with us during our set, you made the gig!

unfortunately, due to having to leave for home we weren't able to stay around and find these diamonds to thank at the end. hopefully this won't be the case tomorrow night when we're in galway.

having played with the lads at the galway arts fesival this summer, we're very excited about returning, this time to Leisureland. so if you want to see us, be there early, come to the front, and make lots of noise

interesting bell x fact: drummer tim is quite the accomplised dj.
interesting delo fact: we really like crisps, but still prefer yop!

Monday: Leisureland, Galway.

So, Day 85023 of the tour. Actually, its 5. Or 6. So sunday was a day off, we all went and got cleaned up for the south-west leg. We arrived at Dublin airport to collect our special vehicle for the journey down. Unfortunately the DeloJet was in the shop, so we dropped into Budget and got a lovely little Ford Focus to carry us cross country. We hit the road with a post-punk cd to have a listen to what some people say we sound like. Do we? hmmm.. I dunno. It was very treble-y anyway..
We arrived to the massive Leisureland venue (we didn't have time for a swim - next time!) and stuffed our faces with Supermacs' finest cuisine, before soundchecking and getting ready.
Thanks so much to everyone for turning up early, there may have been no drink and the house-lights were up, but we got a great reception and really enjoyed ourselves. Cheers!
After a bit of Simple Kid (SIMLEK ID according to the sign on his door ) and some Bell x1 we headed for some food, (hi to the people who came up to say hello in the diner...! ) and then danced away in the Roisin...

(interesting Bell x1 fact: Tim has a jaffa cake between each song to keep his energy up.)

K

Tuesday: INEC, Killarney.

We woke up in Galway, drank some tea and then hit the road to Killarney. Its longer than you'd think... although, we did get to drive through Gort for the second time in three days which is always good.
Arrived at our hostel in Killarney.. had a lie down.. (when will we learn that drinking solidily every night for a week is a terrible idea? never? oh, ok...) then off to the INEC, to our deadly dressing room under the stage.
After a short soundcheck we went on around 7.45.. at the start there were only a handful.. but it soon filled up (thanks to everyone who did!) and it was fun too. people were calling out for "Basis Of Everything", but we'd decided to omit it in favour of new ones... we had a quick onstage commitee meeting and decided to press ahead without... (sorry...!)
Afterwards outside we met lots of youngfellas, two of which pinched our backstage passes and tried to blag into bell x1's dressing room, eventually ending up on the STAGE going "where's bell x1? we're with Delorentos! take us to bell x1!" with ten bemused road crew looking quizzically at each other... heh...
Anyway.. afterwards we treated ourselves to a nice chinese and then we went drinking.... for a change. That Shane McGowan never had a chance.

(interesting Bell x1 fact: Brian plays the keys and lead guitar at the same time in one song, very impressive...)

K

Wednesday: The Savoy, Cork.

Ouch. I think we were supposed to check out of our hostel room at 10.30, but really, that was never gonna happen. Around lunchtime we dragged ourselves out of bed and into the local greasy spoon for a fry. (note to self: never eat a fry again in a place which claims to be "shortly closing indefinitely". hmmnn...). Eventually got on the road to Cork and booked into Sheilas hostel overlooking the city. The Savoy is on the main street, Patrick Street, so no soundchecks can start before 6. Which is bad news for us... when it comes to setting up we end up rushing through it... go upstairs, do a setlist and quickly return to the stage... Cork was one of the gigs i most looked forward to, but there wasn't a massive crowd, i didn't get my sound set up well enough, and our snare broke just as we felt we were warming up... The crowd was small at first but gradually grew and we put our heads down and played as best as we could... i hope everyone that came early enjoyed it sorry about the sound probs, we did our best!
Its tough being the support act, first on, early starts, for these shows, its no-ones fault, its the nature of the beast i suppose. I'd like to think we're making the most of it anyway, we try to play our best at every gig regardless of crowd.. and hopefully a few folks leave enjoying it. I think we could be annoyed by it, but the fact that the Bell x1 lads and the crew are so accomodating and good to us we haven't got any problem. Anyway, everything is a learning curve, and i think we're better at setting ourselves up and looking after ourselves quickly without a fuss as a result of this tour.

Afterwards we went to the brog and swapped clothes with people. Nial looks quite fetching in a ladies red satin top, y'know... and drank. Oh yes dear reader. Thank god we've a day off tomorrow...

(Interesting Bell x1 fact: When they come off stage before their encore they all drink a glass of orange juice and won't go back out until they've answered five trival pursuit questions. Dom's the sport expert, while Dave will only answer the History ones.)

K

Thursday: Day off.

I woke up in Cork, in Sheila's, and quickly realised i broke one of my teeth from drunken escapades last night. rock and roll eh? ah well. So then we went down to the rental car, and discovered that the window was wide open all night. Through the torrential night rain. So, Kieran sat on plastic bags all the way to dublin and got a wet bum. This never happened to Axl Rose... When we dropped the car back (hide plastic bags, stand in front of passenger door, create diversion...) we all went home to our respective houses and had some rest. I, however, went to see the Rapture in the village and had a late night. Tsk Tsk.

Friday: The Point Depot, Dublin.

Friday morning we arranged ourselves and headed into the Point. Its kinda a massive deal playing it, if i look above my computer here i can see all the ticket stubs of all the gigs i've seen here, all the great bands... and its hard to not to be a little proud of ourselves... walking around the arena Níal and me took photos and kinda nodded at each other at the significance of it all...
We got mini kitkats and heineken in the back room, made a few badges for folks who wanted them and went up to do our soundcheck. The seemed to be a few technical issues... we couldn't hear the soundman, the monitor person asked us to do stuff, and all the time the door time was getting closer and people were nervously tapping their watches. We left the stage kinda worried, wrote up a setlist and stood at the side looking out at everyone assembled at the front. When we got the nod went out and gave it everything, and judging on the reaction people liked it. When the time was up, it felt like we'd only been on for about 5 mins...

When we got off stage one of the venue managers walked by and gruffly said "congrats, ye just played the point". Pretty good eh?

Afterwards we drank the night away in the Point private bar. Of course. I managed not to damage any other teeth though, i made sure of it...

Thanks to everyone who helped out on the tour, the crew, managers, and especially the band were all great and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Roll on 2007!
