About Us
As Bon Scott said: "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n' roll", and The Chaos Emerald can vouch for that. But while the road is long and hard, there's a lot of fun to had along the way, safe in the knowledge that one day, we'll finally take our place at the top. We formed 18 months ago in a garage in Dublin, and from the beginning vowed that we'd return Hard Rock to the mainstream, and make music exciting and dangerous again. As it happens we've realised that we're not alone in our philosophy: If you look at the impact The Answer and countless other new acts have made, if you look at the sold out tours by Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Velvet Revolver etc, you can see that the appetite is still there: People want to rock. That's where we come in. We'd like to think that we're part of this new wave of bands who love the classic sound and have said "F**k it, this is who we are, we don't want to sound like The Jam!!!" However, we'd also like to think that we're slightly different, and that's what sets us apart, and will ultimately see us rise to the forefront of the genre. We've got that extra star quality that counts: the personality, the arrogance, the belief, the passion. Above all else we have fresh ideas. We're not intersted in boneheaded songs about fighting monsters or brainless odes to fast women and the open road and all that cliched nonsense that hard rock bands think they have to emulate. No, we're interested in reality, the everyday things that rock our boat or piss us off. Our songs are about the city we live in and the people we love and hate. If we ever encounter a two headed monster on a distant planet, we'll be sure to write a song about it, but until then we'll sing about this wierd, f**ked up world we live in. The Chaos comes from JOHN PAUL SCOTT: angelic face, voice to match and a bass player very much in the mould of Philo, our hero. He's enigmatic, quiet and aloof at times, outspoken and vitriolic when things get under his skin. JAKE MARSHALL provides the guitar, a classic powerhouse sound, monstrous riffs, and his trademark wailing solos which have impressed even the most sceptical guitar fans. He's a fiery character, can be friendly and charming, but don't get on the wrong side of him... LUGNUT BUTLER is the piece that holds it all together, a tireless drummer, sharp and innovative, when he lays down the beat, people are compelled to dance. He's the sensible one, the voice of reason when the other two lose touch with reality. However, under this exterior we all know that he is truly the wild man of the band, the joker in the pack, the dark horse....
