About Us
Ralph's present line up officially came to be on December 31st '04. We began by playing a bunch of our favourite band's songs and quickly began writing our own. 2005 was really a year of finding out what Ralph was. Playing many gigs to many people, getting different reactions, and recording songs for people to listen to. By the end of 2005 we had pretty much settled on our genre as being a fusion of indie and alternative rock. 2006 saw us take the band a lot more seriously as we began writing more and more songs which led us to recording our second demo that included two of our older songs re-recorded as we were more familiar with recording by then. (We have always had a kind of DIY attitude in the band, we produce all of demos, design our own artwork for demos and t-shirts, and control the sound and lighting for our gigs) In 2006 we also played many many more gigs, from April onwards we were playing nearly a gig every week in various venues. Some of these included Slattery on Capel St. and Eamonn Doran's. Always with our dedicated fans following! With our growing popularity in Wicklow Town, The Lietrim Lounge booked us as a regular band which has helped Ralph financially. The money we make as a band always goes back into the band and thanks to this we have recently been able to purchase our own PA system, lights, and a loop pedal to help us layer songs for live performances. We believe that we all progress as songwriters with each new song we write. With each new song we spend more time on we are constantly thinking of new ideas, and have most certainly become more experimental than we were in the past. With some of our songs we try to create an atmosphere or feel with that music, something to think about or to share with people what we feel. And other songs we write are purely for rock/party/ piss up factor! so basically we try to be serious song writers but can see the fun and humour in music too. Thanks to everyone that's supported us and all our friends, fans, and family(for the transport of equipment!). Well that's enough for now, hope you enjoy browsing our space and feel free to leave a comment or talk to us etc!!!

First blast blog!
38 years agoWell anyway, we've gotten loads of new equipment in the last few months including our own pa system, a new bass amp, lights, strobes, a loop pedal, microphones, cymbals, and I got a new effects pedal which I LOVE! But yeah we have pretty much everything we need to indulge in our creating of music. The addition of the loop pedal working as a recorder for basic demo songs helps a lot. So we'll have a few new songs up as we write them, and some songs that have not yet been recorded. Our most recent song is up entitled "Too Sad, Too Serious". And it's probably got my favourite lyrics that I've written for a song. They're about every friend that I used to have that stabbed me in the back and don't deserve a friendship! Angry lyrics, quiet(ish) music! I like that mix, or the other way around... read on >>
