About us

We Are Contenders is the stagename of Irish artist Jason Branagan. After becoming extremely bored of not playing in a band anymore Jay decided to start writing his own music.

After some consideration he decided to get his younger sister in to help with some vocals. On December 9th 2007 the pair played two songs live on college radio station DIT FM. After playing some shows Jay decided it was time to go to a studio and record some songs. On April 23rd 2008 Jay, with the help of Jen, recorded a 6 song EP.

On May 13th 2008 the band recieved some airplay and Aidan Lynch named the song Courage and Cowardice as Phantom FM's demo of the week.

We Are Contenders' first EP "Shoebox Memories" is due for release on Friday, August 1st and will be followed by an official EP launch in the famous Dublin venue of Whelans on August 2nd.
