*Cue Jaws Music......*
1 month agoOk, here we go. Two days left. Three page long list of what needs to be done. We're about half way through..... Why does there not seem to be enough time in the day anymore?! I must say though, as a whole, the team are doing amazingly well. Everybody is pulling their weight and pitching in so I have every confidence we'll be ready in time.
Bryan has done a fantastic job with all the videos, I Don't want to know how little sleep he's gotten over the last week, cause it'll just make me feel guilty! lol
Sinead's been running around doing everything in sight, and you need never fear that something will be left out because she know exactly what's goin on and what still needs to be done.
Paddy and richard were slaving away to get the base for our stand finished, the paint is still drying as we speak! It looks absolutely fantastic though,a nd really gets the whole theme across.
Maria and Mary have been typing like mad women to get articles into the papers and i'd say most of the town are sick of looking at us at this stage!
The band, Six:30 have been fantasic, sitting through Photo Shoots, Interviews and whatever else! They can't wait for this weekend, they're hyped up and ready to go. They're playing at our school prizegiving tomorrow to get good and warmed up for saturday, so watch out!
Everybody else has been working really hard on getting our whole presentation and everything perfect, so that we give ourselves the very best chance of egtting up on that stage on saturday night, hopefully more than once! As CEO, there's some awards i'd give my right arm to make sure we got, like the Media Award and Business Plan Award. I think everybody deserves an award, whether they get it or not!
Now we just have to wait and see what happens on the day.... Fingers crossed!

Regional Finals
3 months agoOn Saturday 12th April, we will all be attending the regional BlastBeat finals held in Galway. Leading up to this we will be promoting our band 'six:30' as much as we can. Members of the group will be putting up promotional posters around the school to get as many supporters as possible. The PR team will be getting a section on 'Highland Radio' and hopefully be playing a 'six:30' demo on air. The MD's will be organising transport to Dublin. The Journalists will also be writing articles for all the local papers to both promote the company and the band.
Toxic Youth Company Blog- November
November 1st- Posters were put up around Derry by Richard (CEO), Paddy (A&R) and Conor (Finance manager)
November 3rd- The A&R Manager and Finance Manager attended a gig in Letterkenny to see bands perform and distribute posters.
November 7th- The A&R team had a meeting to narrow down all the bands that had sent in demos or got in contact via Blastspace.
November 10th- The Event Organiser was in contact with An Grianán Theatre and they helped her with a few queries about security, backstage management and gave her of information they would need prior to the concert, such as a list of the names of all the people that will be working backstage for the event of a fire.
The PR manager called Highland Radio and talked with Kevin Collins. She explained the details of our company to him and discussed the possibility of our company getting a slot on the radio station.
The A&R manager went to Ballybofey and Stranorlar distributing leaflets and posters.
November 11th- Conor (Finance Manager) Searched for bands to recruit on the Blastspace website, and requested that some local bands create blastspace sites of their own.
November 12th- The Company had a meeting at Richard Durning’s (CEO) house where we discussed the progress we have made and what is left to do. The agenda was as follows:
• We discussed our ideas for the concert such as the theme, dressing the stage, finalising the bands, the possibility of giving out free glow sticks in association with the neon colour scheme. We also discussed the possibility of getting t-shirts printed and having a slideshow of pictures on the back wall of the stage for entertainment as the audience come into the theatre. We decided that our hosts for the show will be Patrick Geary and Brian Laird.
• The rules and regulations for the concert were discussed
• We listened to music as a company from bands that were possibilities for the Concert and everyone gave their views to the A&R manager.
• We did up the financial reports for the Business Plan
• We discussed uniforms for the company and details of the Company theme
November 14th- The Event Manager wrote up a draft letter to invite our judges to attend our concert.
November 16th- The Event Manager used the internet to get approximate prices for the glow sticks, and also went on the theatre’s website to see the list of equipment available to us to use.
November 17th- The A&R Manager distributed some posters and leaflets to Lifford and Castlefin.
November 19th-We had our first meeting back after two weeks of work experience. We discussed Blastbeat in general in school in an informal meeting during a free class and recapped what we have done and everything to be done to improve. We asked Letterkenny shopping centre for permission to sell our CDs there on Thursday, which they agreed to
The Marketing and sales manager handed out CDs for everyone to sell and took note of everyone in our class who took CDs and how many each.
The A&R manager got in contact with some interested bands from Donegal town and gave them the list of requirements.
November 20th- We handed out a questionnaire through out our school asking questions to see if they would buy our CD. We collected and analysed the results from the questionnaire to find out what kind of music they like and if they would buy a C.D of different bands from Blastbeat. The Secretary, Marketing & Sales manager and Art & Design manager then set a table and a CD player playing our CD in our canteen through out lunch to sell our CDs to the students and teachers of our school.
November 21st – The journalist e-mailed a questionnaire containing questions about their music and influences to the bands that were considering applying for the competition via the Blastspace website. The PR manager called Highland radio again to talk about the chance to get a slot on the radio.
The A&R manager went on Blatspace and started e-mailing some of the bands.
November 22nd - The journalist (Mary) received a print copy of the photo that appeared in the local paper.
Natasha, Kelly, Aimee and John went after school to the outside Tesco’s shopping centre Letterkenny to sell CDs to the public. We were there from 4:30pm until 8:00pm selling our CDs and making money for our charity MY LIFE.
23rd November: Members of the Company were constantly selling CDs and bringing in money to the company.
25th November- The Marketing Manager e-mailed Niall Mc Cauley enquiring about more CDs for our company.
26th November- We carried out market research in the form of a questionnaire, which was distributed to the fourth year students. The questions were based on how often people went to concerts, who they went to see and how much they would be willing to pay to go to our concert.
Richard sent off the Business Plan.
We scheduled an interview with a local band from our school that are entering the Blastbeat competition for Thursday named The Resistance.
27th November- The Marketing Manager compiled the results of the concert questionnaire and presented them in pie chart form. (Aimee)
27-8th November: We were on a retreat to Galway and we brought a laptop with us to use in our spare time. On the bus on the way home from Galway we all listened to songs from the bands and narrowed the list down to ten bands six of which we will take to our concert. We then wrote a letter to all the bands to find out their ages and whether or not they are still in school and therefore were they eligible to compete in our concert.
30th November- Aileen (CEO) gathered up all the blogs, Questionnaires and results and all other content done this month and sent it off to Niall.
