Well I was lucky enough to accept PR Manager of Blastbeat 2008, and I was well chuffed.! It was an amazing feeling to be recognised for all the hard work I put in, and it made the (unknown yet-gulp) phone bill worth it!!!!
And WOW, everyone were so lovely..

1 month agoThe presentation was held on Saturday and it really was surreal! It wasn't a circus at all! It was a great day out and the concert was class! Reef Stained were brilliant and a crowd favourite but somehow didn't win. What can you do? It was class anyways! I'll update you again soon.

1 month agoSaturday is drawing ever nearer and we are growing ever more excited! We now have only four days left until the big day. We are almost ready for the presentation. We are just making a few finishing touches to everything and then we will be all set. We have a really good theme for our presentation and we have purchased all of the materials which we will be needing to enhance the surrealness. We also have a few really cool suprises in store for everyone who comes to check out our stand so please do. I know things are really busy and people are running around and worrying now but this presentation is just used to showcase all of the hard work done by the MMC's this year and since we have done so much, we are having no problems. 1 month agoIt was another busy day here at Surreal Sounds with the presentation approaching ever so rapidly. It is now only one week away and we still have some work to do. Everything will be completed on time but we want everything to be perfect. Some painting and shopping was done today and we are almost ready for the presentation. The painting needs to be comopleted and some more items need to be bought but we are almost there. Things are really coming together now and it has the makings to be an absolutely surreal presentation! None of us can wait any more! The anticipation is unbearable. Hopefully we put on a good show! 1 month agoToday some members of Surreal Sounds did some painting to enhance our presentation. These included Sean, Catriona, Karen L, Amy M and Amy S. They got a lot of the painting done but they still have a bit more to do. They hope to complete the painting after school during the week. I did not get a chance to see this painting today but Sean is our Arts and Design Manager and Catriona is our Assistant Arts and Design Manager and I trust them completely. The painting will definitely be surreal and will be a great boost to the attractiveness of our stand. I'll update you again soon.

1 month agoWhile this painting is going on, a few more people will be heading into Galway to do a bit more shopping. There are still a few bits and pieces that we need to purchase and there are a few things that we need to collect as well that have already been ordered. This should not take too long and they are planning to get the 11 o'clock bus into Galway and hope to get the 3 or 4 o'clock bus back to Loughrea. They may take more or less time. It all depends on what needs to be bought and on the size of the crowds in Galway. Hopefully it won't be too bad! I'll update you again soon.

1 month agoWe had it organised today fopr Paul to bring in his equipment and have a practice run of the powerpoint presentation. He brought in all the goods and we were going to view it during the last two classes. We then viewed it around 2:40 as Paul had to bring all the equipment down and set it up. Once he got it going, it looked amazing. Its really surreal and he did a really good job. It must have taked him ages but it probably didn't since he's so good with all of the IT work. He has it all set and planned now for the presentation and is just goping to make a few minor changes over the weekend. I'll update you again soon.

most of them explained what blastbeat was so at least we're getting in some advertising!
it seems reef-stained are getting quite a name for themselves, i heard that 3 suppoters buses were being organised for the nationals...thats a lot of people!

Wow have we been working hard! Even harder than lately!! I have been a busy little bee promoting Reef-Stained, Surreal Sounds, and Blastbeat. Keep an eye out for us in a possible newspaper near you! ;) I haven't had a chance to blog everything I've been doing, which is nearly better as it will be a nice little surprise when it all comes together.

1 month agoToday we really got lots done. We may have hit a little bump but that is to be expected. It was sorted out and we managed to accomplish a lot of concrete work. Many things were made and designed. We did some painting and we bought more supplies. The presentation is really piecing together now after all of the thought and effort gone into planning it. We are definitely on track and within schedule. Hopefully the rest of our plans will materialise as well as the ones today. The presentation is classified information so I can't give away any information. I can tell you that it will be surreal! I'll update you again soon.

We still have a bit more to do but we have everything planned and sketched and we have most of our props. We are getting some more props tomorrow too. We have a really surreal theme. 1 month agoI can't believe we only have eleven days left. This is just unbelievable! Where did the Blastbeat year go? It will be very upsetting to see Blastbeat come to an end but on the other hand it will be very surreal to do the presentation. Its surreal the amount of work we have put into Blastbeat so far and we are not going to lose momentum now with only eleven days left. That is not the Surreal Sounds way of doing things. Sure we are tired from all of the hard work we have put in over the course of these last few months but who isn't. We only have eleven days left to do something really special and we are going to put in one huge last effort for these eleven days. We have come too far now. Being CEO has been a life changing experience for me and has brought me closer to all of my classmates. I have tried not to let them down and I will try to motivate them for one last huge push to soar over that finish line! It will definitely be surreal! Keep it surreal! I'll update you again soon.

Finance Manager- Dispensing the Dosh!
1 month agoYes, we at Surreal Sounds find surreal® ways to splash our cash. So, it is up to me as Finance Manager, to consider what is economically viable (and such) so that I may dispense the dosh, so that my surreal people may spend Surreal Sounds sheets in exchange for items of use in our presentation.
I'm not afrai to tell you, I had a cold sweat out on me when I found out how much I had to shed, but when it was explained to me what they would be used for, I didn't feel so bad :1
Anyway, we are taking to the shops like ducks to water...I just hope we have no compulsive buyers in our midst...thankfully I came up with the idea for the Code of Conduct jst in time...no loopholes! Go me!

2 months agoThis week is going to be a lot of hard woprk. With the presentation now less than two weeks away we need to make the most of everyday. We have so much to do still and this week is going to be absolutely crucial to the success of Surreal Sounds for the presentation phase of our Blastbeat competition. I can't believe that it is almost over but we still have the mamoth task of preparing for and doing our presentation. This week will require a lot of hard work and determination as I plan to have people staying after school each day to work on the presentation. 2 months agoAnother day done, another day closer to the presentation. The 17th of May is now less than two weeks away and the excitement and pressure is rising. There is so much work that still has to be done and in this coming week, we hope to have most of it done. Then next week we can complete all of the preparation work and hopefuly improve upon and have a run through of the presentation. These are the big times now but we are a big company and we want to do well. We have done so much during these past few months of module 2 and we are not about to throw all of that away now with less than two weeks left. We will push forward and work ourselves to the bone for these last two weeks. It is only two weeks and the reward can be well worth the effort. I can't wait for the presentation. 2 months agoI can't believe the National Finals are so close. These three months and 17 days have just flown by here at Surreal Sounds. I wish we had been in Module 1! The presentations are only two weeks away and today we took our first steps into putting some of our many plans into action by both ordering and purchasing certain items which will be used at the presentation. There are still a few bits and pieces which need to be obtained but a fe members of Surreal Sounds will be going into Galway again on Tuesday and they will spend an hour or two searching for more surreal items. Now that we have bought some items and ordered many more, I can really see our presentation coming together. We had class ideas but no we have put these into actions which is better to do sooner rather than later. Our presentation is going to be so surreal! I can't wait! Its 1:10 now so I'm off to bed. 2 months agoAll of the work is now beginning to pile on. We have so much to do now in preparation for the presentation. There are a lot of those small things and then some big things even a few in the middle. All of these add up to give us a huge work load leading up to the presentation. We have a great company though and we have done well so far so we're confident that this will continue right through to the presentation. I just hope we will be able to show everyone at the presentation just how much work we have put into the competition. To be quite honest, its surreal but we also have to convey all of this work in an attractive manner which is another story. We will have everything ready for the presentation though and tomorrow is that first small step into getting all of our plans completed. Keep it surreal! I'll update you again soon.

2 months agoToday we spent all day doing an aptitude test. We did have last class free but we were so tired after the test we couldn't do much. Those things are really long and really take a lot out of you. As the song goes," What don't kill me makes me stronger" and it really will make Surreal Sounds stronger as now our minds are sharp and focused with two weeks to go until the presentation. Finance Manager- What I missed...
2 months agoWell, since I was out of school for a fair whilín, you can well imagine that I missed a lot of meetings. However, I have been informed as to what happened in them and while I feel that the topics they were discussing were relevant and needed to be talked of, we now have to start focussing more on presenting our presentation, not just talking about it...as my good friend Arny once said..."Ze time fow oction is nauw!" Roughly translated that means, "The time for action is now!"...I think!

2 months agoWe had a small meeting today after our apptitude tests and we had so much to discuss in very little time but it was agreed that we'd meet tommorrow in the library and after me and Sandra will go to Galway to get some supplies and stuff!!! Wel I took a little break from blogging there for a while because it really can get tiresome. We are still working on the oul presentation. People are focusing alot on the whole "theme" aspect of the finals and maybe we should look more at the actual presentation since that is probably what we will get most marks for. Since the judges on the day will know absolutely nothing about what we have done so far,(and we have done alot), I think we should try really hard to try and get as much information up on the board as possible and have as much information as possible available in folders etc. to show the judges. They are going to be business people too so that means they will be very impressed if we are organised and have all the information available at hand if they should need it. We should also have it well organised. I have loads more ideas about this but maybe im giving too much away online since competition between all the companies is so very 'healthy' these days! This can only be good as it makes us try harder!!

This Dark Room..!! A quick review!! :)
2 months agoThis Dark Room are a rock quartet from Cork with many influences from Avenged Sevenfold, to blink 182. It is made up of Aidan Cronin on lead/rhythm guitar, their vocalists Ruairí Dale on lead/rhythm guitar and Shane Desmond on bass and Eoghan O'Loughlin on drums. One of their songs, Ernst is a lively, energetic song with great guitar skills clearly heard. It’s upbeat and enjoyable.! :)

2 months agoI have to get back to all of my work so I am going to leave my daily CEO Blog now. All of this work is really taking its toll on us. We are all a bit tired after these last few weeks of working on the Month 3 tasks. We have done so much and writing it all downreally takes some time. We are almost done though and then its back to working towards the presentation and blogging. We had a day off today thanks to an in service day and this really helped us to make some progress. 2 months agoWe have so much done but we have so much left to do. We are doing all of this work to better prepare ourselves for the presentation. We have so much work done. and we really want to depict this at the presentation. We have some really good ideas for intergrating our work in with our theme. 2 months agoToday I also completed the powerpoint presentation I was working on. It has some really good features. I will add anamation with Paul our IT Manager soon since that is his specialty. This powerpoint presentation helps me with the business strategies and their results. Paul is working on a few more powerpoint presentations so we will definitely have a good few to dazzle you with at the presentation. I hope you'll like them! 2 months agoIn our little mini meeting on Friday after school which consisted of me, Michael and Sandra in the library, we devised a lot of ideas for the presentation. We came up with ideas for different things such as attractiveness of our stand and some other suprises. We also did a bit of research into these ideas on the computer in the library. We have also phoned up people who will be actively involved in the presentation and they will either bring in their costume finished or a sketch for their costume so we can started piecing the presentation together. We have three weeks left to work with and we plan to make the most of these three weeks. I'll update you again soon.

2 months agoWe have so much work left to do. We are working extremely hard everyday to complete all of this work. We are even working on the weekends which is what I am blogging about now. I have a few jobs to finish up but I'll do some blogs to update you. 2 months agoThe presentation is getting so close. I'm scared and then tranquil, I'm freaking out and then calm. I don't know its just an instict of mine that I just want to be scared and freak out but we are such a good mini company. We are all doing our bit and working as a unit which is what a company is all about. I don't know what it is but I feel confident about the presentation and about Surreal Sounds. We have worked extremely hard this year and we want to show this at the presentation. We have a few good ideas for intergrating it into our theme but we'll see if we can make them happen. We only have three weeks left now and we need to bear this in mind. We need to get all the work done soon. This weekend will be crucial to our success. We need to finish the Month 3 tasks and we need to prepare for the presentation. We will have everything done to a very high standard and it will all be done on time. Thats the Surreal Sounds way of doing things. Keep it surreal! By the way this is my 2040th blog! I'll update you again soon.

We have put so much work into our concert, our promotional gig, promoting Reef Stained, promoting Surreal Sounds and doing all of the work that has to be done to run a successful company which Surreal Sounds is. We also have so much work left to do. I know we can do it and if we put a big effort in for these last three weeks it will definitely be worth it in the end. 2 months agoToday we got lots done. A lot of people were missing from our class today thanks to the skiing yesterday. This meant that the teachers couldn't do much with us so we did blastbeat. 2 months agoA few of us here at Surreal Sounds are here in the computer room during lunch. If this isn't dedication I don't know what is. We are willing to sacrifice our free time for the benefit and improvement of Surreal Sounds. We are not just blogging during this time but are also getting real work done. For example, Sandra is sending a lot of e-mails to different people, Paul is working on some of our powerpoint presentations to enhance our presentation in Dublin, Lee is working on organising all of his quotes and other Light and Sound documents and I am here keeping them going, helping and motivating. It doesn't take much from me but I keep them working at a high rate. A few people are missing today thanks to the skiingbut we will try to get work done today and then fill these absent members in during the weekend. The bell has just gone so I have to go now. I will of course be blogging later tonight. Keeping you posted at lunch. I'll update you again soon.

2 months agoAs I have said we went skiing today. As a result we were only able to get a little bit of Surreal Sounds work done. It did act as team bonding though and it has brought us closer. I must have fallen at least ten times, even going up the lift thing! As the song goes by Kanye West"won't don't kill me makes me stronger". Even more music appreciation from Surreal Sounds!lol. Back to the serious work which we have done a lot with. I seriously can't believe how much work has been done already! When it was written out on Wednessday it took Sandra and me four classes and most of lunch to write it all out. This is good though and shows that we have been working to the high standards that I have set for us. I have extremely high standards for the presentation and we will go all out to do ourselves proud! I'll update you again soon.

2 months agoToday was a great day. We got a lot of ideas thrown around and a lot of Surreal Sounds talking done. We did manage to get some definite results but tomorrow will be a big day. We need to get a lot of concrete work done tomorrow. Tomorrow is Friday and with the weekend coming, it is the perfect time to get people doing their jobs. The National Finals as well as the presentation will only be three weeks away on Saturday. Its a scary thought but its a true reality. We have put so much work into this competition and we just need to find a way to convey all of this hard work at the presentation. We definitely will because we are Surreal Sounds! 2 months agoAs you may or may not know, we here at Surreal Sounds went skiing today. This was another team bonding experience but it was a very painful team bonding experience. Both of my legs are bruised and cut, my hand is bruised, I cut my finger open before we even started which makes these blogs very painful to type and my ankle is messed up. Other than that I'm cool. We had no serious injuries thankfully. The worst fall was taken by Paul our IT Manager. He took it the Surreal Sounds way though and just hopped back up. We are very determined here at Surreal Sounds and when we're knocked down we get back up. The skiing was class! It was on an artificial, slippery ground. I would recommend it to everyone and all schools as it is great fun. I'll update you again soon.

2 months agoSo im making CD's for reef staineds HIT single!(its a hit here at surreal sounds) went to great bother to getting on my phone so i could send it to friends and Co-workers of Surreal Sounds! i ended up having to download recording software to first record it and then had to downloads lime so i could make it into an MP3 format! anyways the word of Reef-Stained are spreading along with the word of Surreal Sounds Mini company!

2 months agoWay hay!! I got a reply, already!! I didn't quite expect one that quick but it's all good. It just makes me even more determined to work!! Woo!! Here in Surreal Sounds we're really "knuckling" down as the saying goes.. We'd really love to win, but there's alot more to Blastbeat than winning!! Blastbeat is about many things: creating friendships and bonds to last a life-time, team-work, finding you are a stronger person than you ever knew, and that you can do anything you want. That's just a few points that I feel strongly about, I could go on but I'd hate to be the reason Blastspace crashes with over 3500 blogs especially ones this long!! Lol!! :)

2 months agoA lot of work was done today. It is beneficial to everyone in Surreal Sounds which is all of TY. It outlines all of the work which the different committees and groups have completed. It also sets out work which they have to do and states my high expectations for them. We won't be able to do much blastbeat work tomorrow as we are going skiing. We will have eight hours on a bus though and I will use these eight hours to discuss blastbeat with everyone. Hopefully no one will get injured at the skiing! We'll try not to. We have too much work to be doing now and can't afford to get injured. I have to get off of the internet now but I'll blog tomorrow. By the way this is my 2029th blog! I'll update you again soon.
