We won?

Sweet.
Yeah, we won the MMC award at the Northern Ireland Regional Final on Saturday. Good craic!

We won an "all-expenses paid trip to Dublin". Shame we can't go! Hahahaha awh well (:

Gig was good craic too! Frau Sandy is a tank - he didn't deserve the abuse he received. Congradulations to Seven Story Weather too, who're bound to win the play-off.

Shame about our bands not going through though. 6 Days Later and Jargon both played stormin' sets (with the aid of a smoke machine), and must've only missed out by a few points.

We appreiciate and would like to thank you for your support.

Impact Romania Interview

Today we were talking to Mr.Toner about the work he does in Romania and what our donation will go towards.

Impact Romania has three main aims:
-Build houses for the depised gypsy community in Romania. They have no electricity or clean running water. They use a nearby river which is used for both drinking water as well as disposing of waste.

-Helping ill Romanian children who have been left to die in hospital because they are inoperable. Impact Romania pays for the children to receive important operations in Belfast as well as life-saving drugs.

-They give these Romanian children a childhood. They decorate the paediatric ward of the local hosital with cartoon characters, supply toys and hire a nurse to come in and play with children.

Presentation...

We've finally gotten round to our presentation and it's gonna be a lot of fun! We can't give away much about it, but the theme is based around our company name, Saturn Records.
It's gonna be ridiculously OTT, but we wouldn't have it any other way ;)

Hey there, this is Gavin from Saturn Records and I just wanted to tell you a bit about the current situation with us. You may have noticed that the group members have changed a lot over the last month or so as three key members dropped out, but we are reorganising this and we should be back on track soon.

Thanks for sticking with us though ;]

Update

Hey guys, this is more of an introduction to myself; Ryan, than an update.

Well I was appointed the IT manager,Company Secretary and Online Promotions/Content Manager.
Obviously I had some choice in the matter, so I chose the easiest ones. Haha, just kidding.

Firstly, I think everyone with half a brain could realise that the IT Manager and Online Promotions/Content Manager, would work easily and well together.
I am quite handy with computers and have no bother being a 'whizz'. It just mainly consists of searching the net for new talent, making their acquaintance and work forward from there to branch out for our company online.
I also keep up a general maintenance of the Blastspace and Bebo sites. And maybe soon to come a Myspace site.

Finally of course, I got the lackey job. Company secretary. Which means I make small calls and light business conversations with bands, companies and contacts.

Just thought I'd give you guys an idea of what I get up to. I'll post another blog soon on my doings.

- Ryan.

The Band :

After a few months of busking in Belfast city centre, Tomas Hughes and Stephen Conley decided to form a band along with drummer Conor Curran.
They attended a music workshop mainly to recruit a bassist, record some songs and have a good laugh. While at the workshop, the 3 men stumbled across a friend of Stephens,Adam McGahan who would become their new bassist
The 4 piece was now formed, and Decorum was born.

Interview with Jamie from 6 Days Later

6 Days Later have just been confirmed for our Battle of the Bands in early April. The Newtownabbey rock outfit came from the most unlikely of beginnnings (they debuted at a gig called 'Cheesefest') to receiving plaudits from the legend that is Neil Young. So I caught up with Jamie from the band to see what they're all about...

Luke: Hey Jamie, how did 6 days later come about?

Jamie: Well, it started with four members, we all knew each other as kids and we skated together back in the day. Us, original four knew each other from different places and all of our little circles ended up colliding. We all played separately, for a laugh mostly and it made sense one day when we attempted to "jam" in an old crappy garage. We started to have fun with things and move forward with the idea of making music. We later got our bass player, that was about a year ago and since then we’ve really found what six days later means to us and learnt to understand each other as a band and as mates. There you go, an extensive answer. [laughs]

Luke: The Christian influence in your music definitely comes across. Have you ever go any stick for being a Christian band?

Jamie: Well I think we’ve never really thought of ourselves as an exclusively Christian band. As we grew into making our own music, it came natural to write music about things we didn’t understand or things that we sometimes struggled with. God, girls, maths, the world around us. Naturally 5 Christian guys making music is going to gather a lot of spiritual influences along the way, and a lot of the time, it gives us our purpose for doing what we do. Any stick we’ve ever got has really been nothing to us. We’ve learnt to expect some people to be confused about the idea of Christians in a rock band but we’ve always just enjoyed what we did.

Luke: That's a nice perspective to have. And it all started off with 'Cheesefest'(6 days later's first gig). What the hell was Cheesefest?

Jamie: [laughs] Cracker, I remember those days. A few people we knew had this really weird love for cheese and cheese-related banter. They got one piece of cheese, left it for a year, and held a gig for the "opening of the sacred cheese". [laughs] It was a cracker wee night and we played three awful covers. I love the fact that that is how we started, and for me it’s a story that will never grow old.

Luke: It's pretty amazing like. not many bands can go from playing 'Cheesefest' to playing the final of ATL Rock School and having legends like Neil Young saying you have “a real stage presence and great power”. How does it feel to have come so far in such a short space of time?

Jamie: I think we’ve never tried to get to far ahead of ourselves, while we’ve always taken what we do fairly seriously, in terms of our music, we’ve never take ourselves too seriously and one thing we always try to remember is the fact that every song has the power to influence someone. It’s been great to play to new people and we just enjoy playing to anyone, whether its 2 people or 2000 people. But you know.... so far, so good.

Luke: One final question, then I'll stop melting your face. You've seen the impact Blastspace has had on Steer Clear's career. What do you hope to achieve from the experience?

Jamie: I think one of the most important things for us is that we can get a chance to do our thing for new people. It’s always exciting to see what people are going to do when they hear your stuff or when you do something a little different on stage so really that’s a vital point for us. If people like it, then that’s great.... anything beyond that is a blessing and a bonus!

-Luke.
