All Ireland Finals.
1 month agoI know its been about 2 months since the finals, and I just realized that I haven't posted a blog about it. I've decided I'm going to post blogs about all the Blast Beat shows me and Seth do here.
Anyway as I was saying sorry for the belated post. The trip was so much fun. We flew out on the Friday 16th of May and flew back on the 18th.
May 16th - Arrival in Dublin
Flew out with the gang filming everything on the way, at 10, I think.
Arrived at the Hotel, checked in and after me and Seth had unpacked, which consisted of us opening our suit case and throwing our clothes on our bed and had a cup of tea. We got a call from non other that Mr. Robert, for those who don't know he's the man behind Blast Beat. Who offered to take me, Seth and the gang for pizza. Now where I'm from going out for a pizza is a quick affair, you call or walk to the pizza place get a pizza and walk back home and sit in front of a movie and eat. So we went to meet Rob down stairs and walk round the corner to a beautiful little restaurant called "Little Caesars" It was all dandy, talking to reports from the New York Times and likes. Long story short it was Pizza not as I expected, in a cardboard box, but on a plate with silver cutlery and lovely people to talk to, which was a pleasant surprise. Enough about food, Me, Seth and Amy. Amy was one of mine and Seth's chaperons. She's a lovely lady, she teaches at our school. Anyway we stayed up far to late, seeing as we had a show the next day, playing on the ukulele and generally messing about.
Saturday 17th - The Show
Woken up by Seth singing in the shower, although it sounded more like he had fallen in the shower and broken his legs, I didn't check if had though. We got up went down to breakfast with Andy, another chaperon, and Amy. 2 platefuls, numerous cups of tea and a shower later me and Seth where back down in the lobby in our glad rags on our way to the Tripod. We got sorted out there with another new running order and our VIP passes. Me and Seth retired to our dressing room to sort everything out. After running through stuff a couple times I decided it would be a wicked idea to use the toilet in our dressing room. Not just for a number 1 mind you. Turns out the ventilation in the dressing room wasn't all to great and me and Seth from then on tried out best to stay away from spending anymore time than we had to in there. Sorry Seth! The Show went pretty well seeing as the crowed didn't know us and all. The bands where so good, I was surprised, not that I thought they'd be terrible. I just didn't expect to like them that much. Theres something about live music that gets my jumping. After the show we got interviewed by Rob, who decided me and Seth could interview ourselves, which was fun. After the interview us and the gang went in to the town center to eat at Wasabi's and for a little bit of retail therapy. It was a pretty early night after that, I don't know about Seth, but I was knackered? So it was snoring by 11pm.
Sunday 18th - Last Day in Dublin.
Nice late start to the day, woken up my Seth's singing again, we missed breakfast so we picked some up on the way to the minibus. "Minibus?" I hear you ask, yes Minibus, Rob was taking us for a tour of Dublin. We went all over the place. To some parks, a University, past the BlastBeat offices and to the beach. Notice how I cannot remember any of the names of the places. It was all really nice the sun was out and all. The beach was nice, Amy and Seth even went paddling. I know, mad people. After a nice relaxing couple hours of driving about the place and hopping out at pretty place we stopped at pub. Again I can't remember what it was called. We had a nice little Pub Lunch . The pub was full of little trinkets and agricultural tools, well they looked like agricultural tools, either that or a crazed lunatics favorite murder weapons. Now when I say full, I mean FULL. There where law mower type objects nailed to the celling above my head. before I knew it we where back in the minibus driving to the hotel. Me and Seth sorted out our stuff while Rob interview some teachers from our school and then it was back to the airport.
We where running late so there was hardly any browsing of the duty free shops and then me and Seth where waving goodbye to Dublin. Although it was more of a see you in December for the World Finals rather than a goodbye. But none the less we where sad to leave, but as I've said see you in December.
Thanks Amy, Letty, Andy, Tania and of course Rob!
