Work done:

Past weeks and days, our team had a lot of work done. So we are pretty much set for the concert. We finished second flyer about concert so everyone can see bands which will be performing and also the price and place of our concert. We also worked on our website so it can be more interesting, and we put new translations of our profiles there.

Achievements:
All these things are helping us a lot. We are selling tickets so we can get the right number of people to go to our concert, we want everyone to enjoy it and to be satisfied. We also made the poster so we can attract people. And makeing our site better is good, because we will have more pople looking at the site and becoming interested in blastbeat.

Things i've learned:

There is still a lot that we can learn. There is a lot of new work we have never tried before, and also a responsibility. We are still learning new things about good advertisement, about work with people, and organising.

Work done:

Me and Andrej met on Wednesday to finish our promo video. I’m still meeting up but the guys on the team aren’t as motivated as I would have liked them to be. A lot of the time when we listened to other people saying their ideas, it made someone else get another idea themselves. It was really cool to see all the different takes on all the aspects of the company.

Achievements:

The major achievement of this week is the video. Now our visitors and friends can see how we work and what we’re trying to achieve. The guys are a lot more motivated now that they’ve experienced one of the gigs. I think that they feel like they have more of a job now then they thought before. This is good because is stops them from becoming lazy and
disinterested.

New things we learned:

I’ve learned that the meetings are vital for the communication within the company and the more meetings we have the more clear everyone will be of what they should be doing at the present moment and what everyone is pursuing in the meantime. We learned that by mixing with the potential customers and by befriending some of the most influential among them, it can have a great impact on our final profit.

Work done:

This week we had a meeting, discusing how to do our video. On saturday we all met, and made some shots for the video. We were also discusing what things should be in it so it would be interesting. Then we also started thinking about a design for concert tickets.

Achievements :

With our video which si gonna be on the website soon, everybody can see what is our work about an who we are. Also with putting more information on our website, our bands and fans can see which events are comming and what has happened.

Thing we learned :

I learned how much work do we have to put in making a video, and how to create text for it, so it is clear and short.

interview with Four Leaved Clover

Miška from G-production sat down with Four Leaved Clover, a four piece all-boys band from Bratislava.

Miška: So how did you guys meet and where did it all begin?
Šimon: Well, with this structure I started this year with my friends Samo and Jakub when we adopted Kubo as last member of our group in a pub called ‘U Kozla’. We had our music laboratory in cabinet with number 233 in Rača, whence came our first name ‘Kabinet233’. From the beginning we knew, that we want to play this genres, alternative punk-rock.

Miška: What does music mean to you, what kind of feelings do you have when you're playing, listening or when you're on a concert?
Kubo: I feel happiness!!
Šimon: I often feel like I want to cry. Music can solve all problems you have, I suppose! And another… with song ‘Until the day I die’ I have a feeling that I want to break guitar…!!!

Miška: How do you imagine your ideal concert?
Šimon: acoustic, with lots of known people in an audience in ‘Peklo.’

Miška: What would you say are your main strengths as a band?
Kubo: Well, we’re all classically trained. But we all play multiple instruments too, and everyone has their part in the writing of songs. I play drums, Šimon plays rhythm guitar and vocal, Jakub plays guitar and vocal, Samo plays guitar and he is our singer.

Miška: Who influences your style of music?
Jakub: Old good classic as Ac/Dc, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Slash from Guns n Roses…..
Kubo: Metallic, Bryan Adams….
Samo: In the past inspirited me a lot a group called Calling – Whenever you will go, otherwise Guns n Roses, Blink 182, Box car racer… well… mainly my mother and Peter-my cousin.
Šimon: My main influences would probably be bands ranging from Duff McKaegen, Mark Hoppus, Billy Martin, Lyn-Z, and Travis Barker.

Miška: What do you expect from BlastBeat?
Šimon: To be honest I really don’t know what can I expect from BlastBeat. Merely what I know is that I’m looking forward to work with jake people. I don’t care about other things. Whatever BlastBeat gives…

Miška: So what do you want to do in the future?
Kubo: I’m not so sure yet... but not just to be a musician. Music is like a hobby, job for us. Eventually success in a matter we’ll be happy, otherwise we don’t care so much…

Miška: Any last words?!
Šimon: If you like us, you will vote for us…. If not….

Interview with Katka

Miška from G-production sat down with Katka, one girl from Karlova Ves, Bratislava.

Miška: So how did you decide to be a musician and where did it all begin?
Katka: Well, I started 2 years ago with my guitar. My friend is the reason why I started visiting music class, although after one year I stopped. I thought it was boring. I learned some basic accords and I have started writing down something mine.

Miška: What does music mean to you, what kind of feelings do you have when you play, list or when you are on the concert?
Katka: Well, music means a lot to me! But without music I can’t imagine myself. People don't call me ‘walking radio’ for nothing… lol, because I’m singing, everywhere. Music and songs are things, that really imbue me and I have feeling, that my life has reason. It is some kind of relax, sometimes meditation.

Miška: Who influences your style of music?
Katka: My main influences would probably be bands ranking from Metallic, Twisted Sister, Joe Purdy, Aretha Franklin down to Brandi Carlile, Damian Rice, Feist, Joan Osborne and they might be giants. I think I appeal to a range of different people-there’s really something there for everyone no matter what music you would usually go for. It’s important. I think, if you’re going to get in with the audience as a whole.

Miška: What do you expect from BlasBeat?
Katka: Critique from people about my music and that I finally unlearn to make stress and mixing up before performing in front of an audience.

Miška: So what do you want to do in the future?
Katka: I’m not so sure yet... but maybe after 3 years of high school I’ll see and college will assure my ideas. But it’d be cool to be a musician and continue, that would be the ideal set up.

Miška: Any last words?!
Katka: Remember I’m from Bratislava which is an anagram of Music - cause I rock.

Lot’s of things had to be done in this week. First of all we decided on the place for our venue. Now we know that our concert is going to be on 18th January 2008. Finally after a long time we run our webpage.

Achievements:

We know when and where our concert is going to be, so we can start to arrange all things connected to our wonderful event. Now we can start massive advertising about our project. We want to among our main ideas into different people.

New things we learned:

How it is important to cooperete with different people in same time. Also it was not easy to find and reserve our place for the concert. During our debates it was hard to satisfy the taste of all members in our group and put all ideas into one.

Now we have lots of ideas how to find new and exciting musical talents so we are going straight to avoid this point! Our IT manager helps us with website and we among this page into different people.

Monday 26th November to Sunday 2nd December

Work Done:

Me and my classmates have ended one big school action and we have done, I think, succesful gala performance. I am looking forward to do Blastbeat with full throttle right now :). Good experience was the meeting with great slovak alternative group Lavagance. Vyzo and me discussed with them about the background of music business and it seems to be great cooperation with them. We recorded our video profile also.

Achievements:

Art & Design team did great work - our flyer has everything we have been talking about on G-Production meeting. Business plan is ready too, so we are ready to look for new bands massively.

New things we learned:

I have learned how to look on problem from diffent points of view. Last months gave me the experience how important is to be able work under the press and be still calm without the mistakes.

Andrej - report

Monday 26th November to Sunday 2th November

Work Done:

I have been organizing 9th year of international flamenco festival with my friends in Bratislava. I took care of our visitors from Spain, Germany, and Poland. I preformed with them also on the stage in front of an audience.

Achievements:

This occasion helped me to see problems of organizing some kind of venue. During our upcoming concert I would like to precede those problems. Now after this venue I am ready to go and find new bands for our concert.

New things we learned:

I learned how can I solve problems in short period of time and find the best solution. I also feel that my English and Spanish knowledges are growing. Anyway, there is still something to improve.

Monday November 30th to Sunday December 2nd

Work done :

We made final corrections on the poster and sent it to other members of our team to criticize it.We are going to print it in two days and then our next task will be to distribute it in town… We also made our profiles on site www.blastbeat.sk, so now everyone can check it…

Achievements :

We improved last details and made the final version of the poster. We made our profiles, which consists of foto, age and our position in MMC.

New things we learned:

I learned how difficult it is to work in the team on some graphic thing as that poster was. Everyone has different ideas about it, so if you want all the members to be satisfied, you have to make compromises.

Monday November 30th to Sunday December 2nd

Work done :

Our team has done final corrections on poster this week and made it ready to print and distribute. We have also created a questionnaire for the purpose of obtaining information from our potential customers ( students who would come to a concert). This will give us a better idea of which kind of music is most popular, how many people whould come to a concert like this and others.

Achievements :

We have made a final version of our poster and so we can gather bands for competition. Questionnaire also provided us important information about what people want to hear, see or what way would they support our cocnert.

New things we learned:

I learned how to organise my time better, and how to help creating a better communication among team members. I also learned how important it is to use public opinion in our project, in favour of atracting young people and audience.

Work done:

On Tuesday 20th of November we(Kate, Lucy and I) met at cafe, where we were dealing with our Blastbeat flyer. We drew some sketches of background, we made decision what we want to put on the flyer, and we realized, that we need to meet by computer, because work like this(drawing the flyer) can't be done on the paper, because it is very dificult. So we decided to meet at Kate's flat, and finish the flyer there. We met there on Friday, at 9.00pm.Work went very well and fast, ideas were comming out from our heads, and at 2.00 am was the flyer finished. Then we had some free conversation and after that we went to bed.On Tuesday 27th, Peter gave me money for our website domain, so I hope that our website will come soon.

Achievments:

We have made the flyer, which will be promoting our company and Blastbeat. It should be printed out during next week, it depends on when we get the money. Also the work on the website is going quite well - it's nearly to be put online.

New things we learned:

I have moved up with my skills in drawing techniques. When we had our dsgn meetings I've learned how to work in a group of people.I have learned learned a lot about women. The last thing I've learned is how does it work when you want a web domain.

Monday 19th November to Sunday 25th November

Work done:

We had a meeting and brainstormed ideas about the poster, which should attract bands to join the competition. We managed to make up a slogan and prepared the conception of the poster. Then during weekend I met with Lucka and Miso and we worked on the visual side of the poster and made up the text. It was interesting and we enjoyed a lot of fun with it.

Achievements:

We got together our proposals and made up the conception of the poster, and then made those ideas into the final form. We are going to print and distribute the posters as soon as possible.
We also discussed the places, which could be proper for the concert.

New things we learned:

This week I learned a lot about working with graphic programs, because I needed them to make the poster. It was something new for me because I have never done anything like that. I also learned how difficult it is to find words, which attract people to read about our MMC.
I also figure out how it is important to work together in a team.

A&R report

Monday 19th November to Sunday 25th November

Work done:

We have asked possible candidates to involve them to the music part of Blastbeat competition. In our school lots of talented student were happy and they are looking forward to get into a concert. We are happy of these people and we are going to act them professional as we can.

Achievements:

We made some pictures on our meeting; prepare conception of visualization our bands on our website. i.e. (video, pictures, interview, mp3….)
And we are planning to upload their profile on the Blastspace.

New things we learned:

I learned How important team work and good communication are in a business. That it was not possible for me to do everything myself, I needed to delegate more work to my crew, who were more than happy to get involved as they were getting quiet bored. How much work is involved in organizing. I also realize how hard is to find and convince a bands to support our ideas.

Saturday 20th October to Friday 26th October

Work Done:

Finally, Me and Miska have chosen our MMC team. We decided to make a meeting where all the people met the others and ascertained something new about Blastbeat. Miska told us what each person in each job had to do. Our team bestowed the position of director/CEO on me, what is an honor for me. When I heard what sales manager and finance manager would be doing for the MMC it seemed like a job that would appeal to me and I decided to do it.

Achievements:

Now we have a company name and we are ready to develop our ideas as soon as possible. I want to do something different to most years and I am especially excited about what we will be doing for the end of year presentation. I think we should go completely to beat the other schools!!

New things we learned:

I learned what each part of the company does and how we can all work together to run a successful business. I also realized that we have a lot of work to do and that it is best that we begin immediately to avoid missing out on chances to boost our points!!
