The Moringa Tree-CEO

There is an old saying ''Morina leaves prevent 300 diseases''.
The Moringa Tree has -2x the protein of yogurt,-7x the vitamin of oranges,-3x the potassium of bananas,-4x the vitamin of carrots,-4x the calcium of milk. These figures reflect gram-for-gram comparisons with Moringa leaves.
Moringa Trees are easy to grow in arid conditions:-from seeds or cuttings,-Even in marginal soils,-Very little care needed,-Very little water required,-Produce fruits&leaves within 8months.
They are easy to use:-Add fresh or dried leaves to any dish,-Dry leaves(in shade) and store,-8 to 24g of leaf powder daily improves health.

As our social project, us BannerBeat members held a tea party to fundraise to support the planting of Moringa Trees. We all baked cakes, buns, tarts etc at home for the tea party and any one who wished to enter paid a donation of €3 or more. We raised up to €130 which is equal to 65 Moringa Trees.
So proud of us, BlastBeat has really given us a chance to put ourselves out there and help others. If you too would like to help support the planting of Moringa Trees the address is:Vita Head Office, 73a Blessington Street, Dublin 7, Ireland. Or tel(01)8820108,fax(01)8820633, email info@vita.ie or search www.vita.ie

rough budget updated

Tomorrow we will have a more accurate and extensive budget but for now this is all I have got a rough idea;

€1000 profit
€400 C.D money owed
€205 money to be paid back to employees(explained below)
=========================== =================================== ===========
€595 profit

We had agreed that everyone take 3 C.Ds each and try to sell them if they couldn’t they still had to pay €28 (the price of the C.Ds) . Unexpectaly those who agred at the start change their minds as soon as they relised and didn’t pay. Those who did are now getting their money back. Same goes with company shares

Review...don don da!"

Hey everybody! It’s Lisa F. here (again) doing another review. As you should probably know by now, (unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months)last night was Bannerbeats concert, and (speaking as a completely independent third party) it was fabulous!
The battle of the bands took place in the Teach Ceoil Ennistymon (the hub of all activity in west Clare, and the best venue ever!) and began with a disco from our favourite do Chris at 8pm. Before I begin describing the bands, I’m going to tell you a bit bout the venue, which I have to say looked absolutely fabulous! The stage looked amazing thanks to the amazing backdrop (art and design team - very very nice!) and the lights were literally out of this world. Multicoloured and flashing. What more could you want?
Anyway, onto the music. Chav were given the unenviable task of coming first, but they didn’t seem to mind whatsoever, and like true showmen, they gave it everything. Chav did three (excellent) songs. The most memorable thing about Chav? Their showmanship without a doubt. I have never seen a band this enthusiastic when on stage, especially when they were on first! Anyway the drums and guitars (I’m sorry I can’t be any more specific then that!) deserve a special mention!
‘A Star Called Henry’ were up next, and my God did they get the crowd going! Their first song (Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis) was possibly better then the original, and yes I thought the original was amazing. By the looks of it, I wasn’t the only one who appreciated the cover, the crowd went absolutely mad! I loved the vocals and the bass guitar, but really it was all good!
What can I say about our next band, Marblechips? Well they are lively (and that’s putting it very very mildly).Their energy and enthusiasm was infectious, and they were the first band who definitely made a conscious effort to get the audience up and dancing. Oh and yes, they certainly succeeded! The had the audiences attention throughout their set, and this was due in no small part to their vocals, which were among the best in the competition. Everyone there, myself included, felt they were very impressive.
Up next were local band Robot Pirates from Ennistymon and Lahinch. They did a cover of ‘99 red balloons’ which proved to be extremely popular. They then moved on to do two of their own songs, Shizlac adn I'm a player. I happen to be extremely fussy when it comes to my music, but I have to say those two songs were as good as most of the songs that I love at the moment. As well as being very original, the Robot Pirates gave an impressive performance on stage. Good job!
Finally, (last but not least) was Septica. Septica are difficult to describe, because as far as I can tell there is no band I can think of that sounds like them - talk about originality! Septica were loud and mad (as all good rock bands should be), and succeeded in maintaining the high standard set by all the precious bands. Their music was easy to dance to, and the audience seemed to realise this, with most of the floor packed during their songs.
After Septica were finished, we were down to the business end of the battle of the bands. Unfortunately a battle will always mean there a casualties of war, in this case Robot Pirates and Chav were the two who suffered. Septica and A Star Called Henry were placed in joined second place, but the winner, who will go on to represent Clare in the next stage of this competition was … Marblechips! (Congratulations guys!) All the bands should be extremely proud of themselves for putting on a great show, as should the mini company Bannerbeats (not that I know any of them. Honest!). I’m fairly sure that Deirdre has said all the thank yous, but just in case I’ll say thank you to our DJ, judges, bouncers, shop keepers, door people…I can’t think of anyone else, but ye know who ye are! Talk to ye soon!

FINALLY

Well its D-Day and we're (hopefully)all getting ready to head for the Teach Ceoil, our fabulous venue for the evenings festivities. Naturally everyone in the group is excitied and nervous at the same time and very anxious to get this show on the road! So only a few hours left until it all starts and the pressure truly begins, but in the end it will all be worth it (touch wood)and the group will want to start the whole thing all over again. So anybody that views our page, please wish us good luck and anybody coming tonight hope you enjoy yourself and have a good night!!

Hey guys, My name is Katie and I'm the secretary for "Banner Beats". My job is to take notes in every meeting we have and do general jobs that a secretary does! I tried to type out all the minutes that I have taken in this blog but there isn't enough room! But basically at the start of the blastbeat meetings, we had to make many decisions i.e. when we would have meetings/what bands we would have. shares had to be collected from everybody, it was honestly hectic at the start, but now it's going extremely well, Our concert is on next week,Saturday 15th of December so we're just planning the final touches this week.In the past few weeks,we have been planning venue/lighting/advertising/sound/se curity etc. so i've alot of notes on all that planning..
anyway thats all i'm going to say for now!

INTERVIEW!

Hey guys, Lisa here with her first interview (again, I can only get better...). Thanks to d fabulous Robot Pirates who were d people I interviewed!

1. Hey guys! First of all, who are ye and where are ye from?
we are Liam grant, ciaren monoaghan and ?????? from lahinch.

2. Describe your music in one word:
fast... very fast... like speedy gonzales meets a surfboard...

3. When did you guys start playing together, and how did it happen? Did ye know each other before ye started playing together?
ya we was like best buddies and been playing with ourselves for just over a year. but have jusr recently lost our guitarist james skerritt due to him being diagnosed with artrithist of the back, very sad for all... but are replacing him with daire linnane! a slightly less talented guitarist! but looks less like a girl!

4. How did your band get its name?
stole it from rayman 2, the baddies in it are called robot pirates! also in a episode of spongey they go to a place called robot pirate island

5. When did you guys realise you wanted to be musicians?
when realised wer not the best looking, we suck at sports (except surfing(liam is king)) so we better be in a band if we wanna get chicks.

6. How often do ye practice and how often do ye get to gig?
we pratice alot i guess but we mostly just take the piss... we usually get a gig on average 2 a month...

7. Who comes up with your songs? Is it a group effort or does one person do all the composing?
Liam he writes like a godess... james used to but the lyrics wer kinda sappy...
nope... just Liam!

How many original songs do ye have? like 7 but about 3 are good!

8. Does your band ever do cover versions of songs? If so, which songs?
yes lots and way to many to remember or name..

9. Do practices and gigs interfere with your social life?
what does interfere mean... something to do cats? yup dont know ya talkins about

10. What instruments do ye play? yes, lots

11. Who is/are your favourite bands/artists at the moment? Rihanna... what a babe...shut up and drive, drive drive... classic

12. Who is/are the bands main inspiration? McFly... its all about you baby

13. Finally what do you hope to gain from participating in Blast Beat? Some chicks i guess...

Review

Hey guys! Lisa F. here doing her first review for blast beat, so I can only get better! I’m reviewing the blast:beat volume 5 album from 2006/2007 (well we have to know what were going to be selling don’t we!) Considering the age of the bands, this album really does sound very professional, and I could defiantly listen to this again! The album is basically a compilation of the top seventeen bands from last years blast beat competition, and I’ve managed to pick out the highlights.
It starts off with ‘Something for a while’ by Stanley. The bass guitar and drums for this song are really strong and I did like this song. If there was ever a song for going wild to, I guess this is the one! Its loud, with lots of (really good!) instrumentals from the lead guitar and drums - everything that good rock should be in my opinion!
The third song is called ‘Black Storm’ by Cronus, and is a really fast rock song. The vocals, well…do you remember two years ago, when Lordi from Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest (they were the ones dressed as monsters)? Well if you thought they were good, you ain’t seen nothing yet! Whoever plays the guitar on this song deserves a medal. Seriously. How anyone can play that fast is completely beyond me!
‘Without a word’ by KVX is my favourite song on the album (though it was very close in the end), mainly because it is one of the only songs that actually feature female singers! I know that instruments like the violin, glockenspiel and flute would not normally be found in a rock band with guitars and drums, but I swear on my life they sound good! According to some of my friends they sound like the Corrs, I maintain they sound much better then the Corrs ever were. Think Kelly Clarkson goes rock and joins a band! Vocals (including backing vocals which are really class!) all deserve a mention because they are really good!
Track seven is called ‘Tomorrow is my lucky day’ by Setmaker. Personally it reminds me of How To Save a Life by the Fray (that’s a definite compliment- I loved that song!). The violin kicks ass, though its not a main feature, so violin haters need not worry. The vocals are excellent, as are the lyrics, so this song would have to rank up in my top five. It is one of the most professional songs on the album.
At five minutes nineteen, ’Cellar Door’ by Eitinn is the longest song on the album. This song is also my second favourite out of the entire album. Crea O’Halon (isn’t that a great name?!) does a really good job with the vocals - this girl is one powerful singer! The entire band just seem to work together really well and have produced a really good, lively rock song. The drums, guitar and keyboard are all really good. A word of advice - I did actually find this song infectious, the kind of song that you just have to dance to. So under no circumstances should you attempt to do homework while listening to this one.
‘Girls like Mandy’ by Hotstop is the fourteenth track on the album, and reminds me of a toned down version of Chelsea Dagger by the Fratelis, which is possibly by favourite song ever. This was another one of those catchy songs that I can’t get out of my head. Although this song is not hard core rock like most of the rest of the album, I think this can only be a good thing, there is after all only so much rock a girl can take! The lead singer can sing, the drummer deserves a special mention and the guitars are faultless. What more can I say!
Overall this a pretty solid (and very catchy) rock album, which makes our job selling it a hell of a lot easier. There’s a good lot of songs , 17 is a lot people, so I guess there’s something for everyone! Most of the bands are worth looking up again (most of them actually have a bebo page as well as their blast beat pages, so check them out for concert info and stuff like that!
Ok ladies and gentlemen that is my first review over and done with! I have just realised that I gave every single song on the album a good review, which probably isn’t such a good thing. You’ll just have to trust me when I say that this is a really good album (I wouldn’t give it such a good review otherwise!) and should defiantly be bought (particularly if you intend to but it from ‘Banner Beats Records’ in Ennistymon, CO. Clare). Go on - we’re worth it!
