Hotstop Happenings.....
1 year agoi dnt think we'll b playing any gigs this summer (not till end of august anyways) due to the fact that we're all on holidays at different times, so witht the time that we have together, we'll more than likely be recording demos for blastspace aswell as re-recording some old songs and also practising and finishing off some of our newer songs, so come september, we'll have a large set and maybe a demo cd that we can hand out at the end of gigs?!?
thats basically it, unless i remember to add something....

radio city gig (02-06-07)
1 year agoit was probably one of the most stressfull days in the bands history, with the seeds of chaos being sown the night before.... we all went to a party, and of course i had to go and hurt myself... i wont go into it, but it involved a trampoline, and i did my wrist in. fantastic. after we went back to sherrys, i strapped up my wrist and hoped it would improve in the morning. it didnt, and after a swift visit to the vhi place in dundrum, it looked like i wouldnt b playing, as i was told to rest 4 3weeks:( . so when we got to radio city, we decided that sherry, jake and tebbitt would play an acoustic set, and apologise profusely for the fact that their bassist is a spa. with an hour to go before the lads were set to go on, i was given some pysiotherapy from paul, and it looked like id be able to wing the gig if we had a short set, which would mean homestar runner would have to go on earlier than expected (which we greatly appreciate), and we went on after amoeba had recieved their much deserved 2 awards (congrats guys!) and in the end it worked out, and we got to play a 4 song set! :D, and we'll all be fit and ready for the upcoming blast gig on the 23rd of june!.
(id also like to say thanks to the guys from stanley who were prepared to lend themselves to help bail us out if when we looked like we were screwed! and a HUGE thanks to paul for helping loosen up my wrist, and getting me in a state in which i could play in!)
(and id like to say sorry to rob and everyone at the blast gig for all the messing around, mark and betty, nick bitove, my dad and sister, paul and sophie, and the rest of the guys in the band for screwing up, and more or less destroying what should have been a stress-free day!)

blast:beat final, and the aftermath.... (18-05-07)
1 year agoIt’s absolutely unreal, a week (and a bit) on, and i am still on a high with the whole blast beat thing. None of us were expecting to win at all and it would be safe to say that the last week or so has easily been one of the greatest experience of our lives. Everything about blast beat was class, from the first gig we played back in November in st Gerards; to the gig in Vicar Street; everything was surreal. The highlight obviously was the national final. To be honest, our goal for the day was to get through to the final and then just have a laugh, but also just to make the most of playing in Vicar Street as odds are we'll never play there again! So when we heard we got through (along with the details and addicted to oxygen) we felt that we could relax and we just wanted to play the best possible set and hopefully win over some new fans. The start of our set in the final was a bit of a train wreck, but we picked ourselves up and had the most fun we've ever had together as a band. The crowd were absolutely incredible and we were basically just buzzing off them! Im not going to go into much detail about when we were announced winners, as there is not enough space in this blog, and the photos with the sheer excitement and shock on our faces do the moment more justice than I ever could on a blog! but what I will say is that it was probably the greatest moment of our lives, and what made it more special was the fact that we got to share it with all of our friends who came out to see us, and cheered us on when we played, and have all just been so supportive since the day we started the band. Ever since the final, we have been in newspapers, been on the radio, and have played some more gigs (clontarf, wicklow, Gerards), and we're making the most out of the situation that we have somehow stumbled into. as for the future of hotstop, we just want to play more and more gigs (as we have only played 9 to date), and keep writing as many songs as we can so we can make the best album possible. all we want to do over the next few years is just give the greatest account of ourselves possible and try our best in everything we do so we have no regrets when we look back on the time we've had in the years to come! We’d also like to thank all of our mates who have supported us; everyone up in the school, our family and everyone from blastbeat/blast space especially rob! and all the bands that have been ever so sound to us when we have crossed paths (Santa Cruz, The Revolts, Mark Hogan, Spare Change, The Details, Addicted To Oxygen, The Dynamicks, Blue Syndrome, Setmaker and Steer Clear) they are all savage bands, who I am certain we'll b gigging with in the near future (hopefully!!)
Ill keep you posted on any hotstop-happenings in the future,
Love,
Keyesie (Andrew Keyes, bass)
